An international Am Law firm recognized for its representation of Fortune 500 companies, is seeking a Senior Practice Group Manager to support their Government Contracts and Labor & Employment practice groups. This role will be hybrid in Washington, D.C.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with the Department Practice Director and Practice Group Leaders to develop and execute strategic plans for the practice groups, including goal setting, performance monitoring, and proactive measures to achieve priorities.
  • Coordinating with various firm departments such as Finance, Talent and Inclusion, Recruiting, and Business Development to implement initiatives.
  • Overseeing the onboarding and integration of new attorneys and staff, monitoring workload, and addressing staffing issues.
  • Collaborating with recruiting teams to assess needs, develop recruitment strategies, and execute recruitment plans.
  • Managing attorney evaluations, promotions, and personnel issues, including overseeing mentor pairings and development plans.
  • Working with the Talent & Inclusion Partner(s) to create professional development plans for diverse associates and counsel.
  • Monitoring group metrics, maintaining group resources, and driving best practices in areas like knowledge management and onboarding processes.
  • Facilitating effective communication within the practice group through meetings, written communications, and trainings.
  • Collaborating with the Finance team on financial reporting, analysis, and budget management.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with at least seven years of relevant experience. Advanced degrees like JD or MBA may substitute for experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of legal and business environments.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, make strategic decisions, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and ability to learn new software.
  • Experience in supervising others.
