Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Senior Mechanical Engineer located in Charlotte, NC, with flexibility for some remote work. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the design of buildings and facilities with a focus on HVAC design, including performing calculations, selecting equipment, and developing construction documents such as drawings and specifications. This role involves mentoring junior engineers and designers and supporting fieldwork, including existing condition surveys, progress field reports, and project close-out punch lists. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of projects.


Education & Experience

Required:

  • BS Mechanical Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited university program.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) licensure. Licensed in North Carolina at a minimum, with the ability to obtain licensure in other states and Puerto Rico as needed.
  • 10+ years of related experience in an engineering consulting firm within the Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and MEP/FP industry.
  • Ability to perform designs, calculations, reports, equipment selections, specifications, and draft and model mechanical HVAC systems.
  • General understanding of applicable codes and standards for the design of mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of graphical standards related to producing construction documents.
  • Proficiency in utilizing Revit and AutoCAD software.
  • Experience in retail, office, institutional, and educational buildings.

Preferred:

  • Ability to perform designs, calculations, reports, equipment selections, and specifications, drafting, and modeling of HVAC, plumbing, or fire protection systems.
  • Understanding of applicable codes and standards for the design of plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection systems.
  • Familiarity with various software suites, such as MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel), and Bluebeam Revu.
