Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Education (SPED) Teacher to join our K-8 school team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education and a commitment to creating an inclusive classroom where all students can succeed. As a SPED Teacher, you will develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), provide direct instruction, and collaborate with general education teachers to support students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Provide direct instruction to students with disabilities in a variety of settings, including inclusive classrooms and resource rooms.
  • Adapt and modify curriculum and instructional materials to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and other staff to support inclusive practices and ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications.
  • Conduct assessments and use data to inform instruction, track student progress, and make necessary adjustments to IEPs.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress, address concerns, and foster strong home-school partnerships.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other meetings as required.
  • Provide training and support to general education teachers and staff on best practices for working with students with disabilities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, IEP documentation, and other required reports.
  • Stay current with developments in special education through professional development and ongoing learning opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education.
  • Valid teaching certification or license in special education in the state of Ohio.
  • Proven experience working with children with disabilities, preferably in a primary school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Proficiency with educational technology and data management tools.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.
