Sierra Executive Solutions, Inc. (SES) is a 3rd party search firm recruiting for a client company's Controller role for the Northern Nevada location. This is an on-site role and is not remote nor hybrid. The position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller. As a Controller, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the company Accounting operations, to include month end close and financial reporting while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing financial insights to support the business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accurate and reliable financial reporting.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with senior management to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Track and report on budget variances and provide recommendations for cost management.
- Assist in long-term financial planning and strategy development.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Prepare and file required tax returns and other regulatory filings.
- Work with external auditors to facilitate annual audits and reviews.
Financial Analysis:
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards for tracking financial performance.
Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals, including staff and senior accountants and clerical accounting staff.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
System and Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.
- Implement best practices and financial software systems to enhance accuracy and productivity.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a reputable University in accounting, finance, or related field is required; CPA or CMA certification preferred. CPA licensure in progress is also acceptable.
- 8+ years of experience as a Controller or similar financial leadership role-medium to large organizations to include Accounting Staff management experience is required.
- Consumer product experience is firmly required (experience from hospitality, hotels, gaming, professional services, construction, mining, are not transferrable skills for this role)
- Experience w/inventory control is required.
- SAGE, NetSuite, or SAP software experience is required. No other ERP systems’ experience is applicable in this role.
- Experience w/subsidiaries or intercompany (transfer pricing and intercompany accounting) is preferred.
- Prior experience and strengths in implementing internal control procedures and processes is strongly preferred, i.e. SOX / Internal Audit.
- Preferably comes from a large (mid-market to Fortune 1000) company and wanting to scale-down for lifestyle and work/life balance.

- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
