The Fund is owned, governed, and managed by Florida Sheriffs and is the most successful government risk pool of its kind in North America. We offer complete protection to include professional liability, automobile coverage, workers’ compensation, and a host of other coverages through the Florida Sheriffs Insurance Agency. Our policies are designed to cover unique exposures, and our team of seasoned underwriters, attorneys, and claim adjusters understands the unique operational elements of the Office of Sheriff and our Constitutional Officers. We deliver specialized risk management services created explicitly to help Sheriffs and Constitutional Officers identify and mitigate risks.
FSRMF is seeking an experienced adjuster for the position of Subrogation Claims Specialist. The Subrogation Claims Specialist is responsible for identifying, researching, following up on potential subrogation claims for workers’ compensation claims and automobile physical damage claims, and pursing judgment collection. The Specialist will also adjust first-party physical damage claims and third-party liability claims in a backup capacity.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes internal claims system to review and evaluate losses for subrogation potential
- Follows up on potential claims to determine if subrogation is viable
- Places all parties on notice of FSRMF’s right of recovery
- Develops an aggressive plan of action to resolve subrogation issues
- Regularly and consistently follows up on subrogation issues through resolution
- Coordinates subrogation efforts of other adjusters
- Documents claim file notes with all subrogation activity
- Communicates with adverse party(s), insurance companies, and Clerk of Courts/State Attorney’s Office for claim resolution and payment
- Processes subrogation checks and records payment with third party vendors.
- Receives and/or returns telephone calls in a timely manner
- Timely manages assigned tasks by system diary
- Assigns subrogation litigation files to legal counsel
- Oversees subrogation litigation; attends mediations when appropriate
- Monitors and maximizes subrogation recovery rate and percentage
- May assist in requesting medical records and/or police reports as directed
- Attends trials, mediations, restitution proceedings, and other relevant proceedings
Qualifications
- 5 or more years of claims adjusting experience
- Florida Licensed Adjuster – All Lines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively deal with multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong analytical and process management skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products
Preferences
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training/experience
- An effective self-starter who requires little supervision
- Experience with claims management software systems such as Origami
Other
- The candidate offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.
- This is an in-house position with FSRMF located in Tallahassee, FL; it is not a telecommute position.
