The Vice President of Marketing & Communications leads our organization's efforts to strengthen our global brand, enhance our communications, and drive engagement across all our platforms. As a senior leadership role, the VP is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive marketing, communications, and public relations strategies that enhance the organization's image and position within the global marketplace. The VP must be a dynamic, innovative leader with a proven track record in managing teams, developing marketing strategies, and executing successful communications campaigns. The VP holds a pivotal role in harnessing their exceptional people and leadership abilities to optimize team performance, fostering a highly collaborative environment where integrity, service, and excellence are not just encouraged but embodied in every aspect of our work. Through strategic guidance and inspirational leadership, the VP ensures that every team member is empowered, engaged, and aligned with our mission, driving unparalleled success and impact within our organization.


This position is based in Tampa, Florida with telecommuting one or two days a week as a possibility. The incumbent must reside or relocate within commuting distance to the Tampa area.


Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for strategic marketing and communications plan to advance the organization's brand identity; broaden awareness of its programs and priorities; and increase the visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences.

• Lead, mentor, and develop the marketing team, fostering a collaborative, productive, innovative, and dynamic work environment.

• Responsible for all marketing and communications materials, including press releases, annual reports, marketing collateral, and digital content.

• Work closely with the leadership team to identify challenges and opportunities in various markets around the world and develop strategies to address them.

• Lead the organization's digital marketing strategy, including social media, email marketing, and website content, to maximize engagement and reach.

• Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal department staff and key media, industry influencers, and collaborators to enhance the organization's reputation, visibility, and reach.

• Monitor, measure, and analyze marketing and communication outcomes, leveraging data to drive strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.

• Manage the marketing and communications budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources while maximizing on return.

• Contribute to annual BICSI strategic planning and decision-making.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including members, partners, sponsors, and the broader ICT community.

• Manage communications in a crisis, protecting and enhancing the association's reputation when faced with challenges.

• Lead by example and fostering a collaborative team environment that encourages creativity, accountability, and a shared commitment to the association's mission.

• Familiarity with industry-standard software and tools relevant to marketing and communications and working in a nonprofit association, such as project management software (e.g., JIRA, Monday, etc.), CRM platforms (e.g., HubSpot), data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Google Analytics, Acumen AI), digital advertising platforms (e.g., Google Ads, FaceBook Ads), and various social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, etc.).

• Competence in utilizing digital tools and platforms for communication, collaboration, and productivity (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, SEMrush, Feathr).

• Experience effectively leveraging various social media platforms to engage diverse audience.

• Basic understanding of statistical concepts to interpret data, reports, dashboards, and performance metrics, aiding in strategic decision-making.

• Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and cost analysis to oversee departmental budget and justify investments in technology or projects.


Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or related field combined with continuous professional development in leadership and management areas required. Master's degree preferred.

• Certifications relevant to marketing, communications, digital media, or nonprofit management can be advantageous. Examples include Certified Marketing Professional (CMP), Certified Digital Marketing Professional (CDMP), or certifications from Google Analytics, HubSpot, etc.

• Extensive senior leadership experience (8+ years) in progressively responsible marketing and communications leadership roles or related industries with a demonstrated track record of developing and implementing successful marketing strategies that enhance brand visibility and engage both stakeholders and the broader community.

• Prior experience in the nonprofit sector, particularly within professional associations or ICT-focused organizations, is highly beneficial. A thorough understanding of the marketing and communications profession, including current trends, challenges, and technological advancements and the unique challenges and opportunities in nonprofit marketing and communications.

• Demonstrable expertise in digital marketing strategies, including content marketing, social media, SEO/SEM, email campaigns, and analytics, to effectively reach and engage audiences in the digital age.

• Strong background in strategic communications, including crisis communication, public relations, and media engagement, to effectively manage the organization’s public profile and stakeholder communications.

• While not a primary focus, familiarity with the ICT sector, current trends, challenges, and the professional landscape can enable more effective marketing and communication strategies that resonate with the target audiences globally.

• Experience in managing marketing budgets, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently, and ROI is maximized.

• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing marketing and communications team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

• Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with other departments, executive leadership, and external partners to align marketing and communication strategies with the organization's goals and objectives.


Travel

• Up to 15%: Must be able to obtain a U.S. Passport, visa, or documentation to travel internationally.
