Overview

We are seeking a senior research associate for our Cambridge site with expertise in peptide synthesis to support the chemistry platform.


Responsibilities

  • Program, operate and troubleshoot automated parallel peptide synthesizers,
  • Perform synthetic modifications of peptides.
  • Program and operate analytical LC/MS, FLASH and preparative HPLC instruments to purify polypeptides and confirm their structure.
  • Develop protocols and methodologies for the synthesis modification and purification of synthetic peptides.
  • Diligently record and analyze experimental plans and complex data sets.


Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS or MSc degree in organic chemistry including solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS)
  • Knowledge and appreciation of laboratory safety procedures.
  • The successful candidate should be self-motivated, enjoy working in a fast-paced dynamic team environment, and be inspired to develop and apply new technologies to advance projects efficiently.
  • Excellent written, organizational and documentation skills. Ability to communicate progress effectively with colleagues across several scientific disciplines and managers.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of research experience in the synthesis, purification and QC of a wide range of peptides containing standard and nonstandard amino acids.
  • Experience in the synthesis of peptide libraries.
  • Experience in advanced analytical techniques such as NMR, UV-VIS, FTIR
  • Experience with FPLC purification of proteins
  • May have experience with recombinant protein expression and purification
