What You’re Good At

You are technically minded, detail-oriented and keep up to date on the latest in Process Industry requirements and trends. The Senior Process Safety Engineer is responsible for providing support for Functional Safety, Cybersecurity, Alarm Management and related services for exida. Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will:

  • Facilitate PHA/HAZOP/CHAZOP and LOPA workshops using exida software tools
  • Develop safety requirement specifications for customers as required, generating the appropriate reports
  • Complete SIS conceptual design activities and SIL verification projects using exida software tools
  • Lead the development of functional safety and alarm rationalization training, seminars and/or webinars when required (requires minimum FSP qualification)
  • Facilitate cybersecurity risk assessment workshops using exida software tools
  • Participate in alarm management, functional safety and cybersecurity lifecycle services and/or projects
  • Promote and/or demonstrate exSILentia tools for safety and cybersecurity
  • Compile proposals and budgets utilizing exida’s SharePoint workspace and Quotation Tracker, ensuring that the tool is maintained and updated
  • Present at technical conferences and symposiums
  • Contribute to white papers, blogs, webinars and new training material
  • Undertake training to improve skill set in functional safety, cybersecurity and alarm rationalization as required by business needs
  • Travel within the US, and internationally, sufficient to meet the business goals and targets of exida
  • Agree and establish Key End Results together with the Engineering Director
  • Work successfully as an individual and as a team leader, in a professional, proper manner, always representing the best interests of exida


Skills and Requirements


  • B.S. in Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related discipline
  • Five to twenty years or more of Process Industry experience
  • Experience with leading Process Hazard Analysis and/or Layer of Protection Analysis workshops
  • Professional level written and verbal communications capability
  • Effective team leadership
  • U.S. work authorization
  • Successful completion of background check


Desired Qualifications


  • Knowledge of Functional Safety concepts
  • Knowledge of IEC 61511, IEC 61508 or other Functional Safety standards
  • Understanding of Safety Instrumented Systems
  • Project management experience
  • CFSE or CFSP certification
