Warehouse Director of Operations


Summary:

Responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the warehouse in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role ensures the efficient and cost-effective management of the warehouse, including receiving, storage, inventory management, and distribution of goods. The Warehouse Director will drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a well-researched world-class approach to transition inventories to our new warehouse based on best practices with the objective to create warehouse policies, processes.
  • Develop material flow best practices to support our manufacturing to include inventory staging, cycle counts, inventory controls, and inventory costing and reporting for materials for projects, work-in-process, and finished goods.
  • Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and develop the warehouse management team, ensuring alignment with project and company goals and objectives.
  • Operational Efficiency: Develop and implement strategies to optimize warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, and distribution.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all warehouse operations comply with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards. Promote a culture of safety and ensure all employees are trained in safe work practices.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory control processes to ensure accuracy and minimize discrepancies. Implement best practices for inventory management, including cycle counting and stock rotation.
  • Cost Management: Manage the warehouse budget, monitor expenses, and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising service quality.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing warehouse operations, reducing waste, and improving productivity.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project teams and other service centers such as Procurement and Logistics to ensure seamless operations and meet production schedules.
  • Customer Focus: Ensure that warehouse operations meet or exceed internal and external customer expectations in terms of accuracy, timeliness, and quality.

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of experience in warehousing, 7+ as a warehouse manager or director.
  • BS degree, or equivalent experience with a high school diploma.
  • In-depth understanding of industry and company best practices for the warehouse.
  • Familiarity with bookkeeping, inventory control practices and logistics.
  • Comfortable using inventory management software and other organizational computer applications.
  • Good grasp of manufacturing concepts to include inventory staging, cycle counts, inventory controls, and inventory costing and reporting for materials for projects, work-in-process, and finished goods.
  • Excellent leadership skills, including the abilities to set goals, motivate and manage conflict.
  • Effective communication skills, including writing, speaking and active listening.
  • Great interpersonal skills.
  • Good project management skills, including strong decision-making, problem-solving and strategic planning abilities.
  • Exceptional time management and organization skills.
  • U.S Citizenship required.
