The Quality Engineer/Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the quality department, therefore ensuring that products are manufactured, tested and delivered using controlled processes to assure that they meet all customer requirements. The Quality Manager leads quality improvement efforts for quality assurance, timely production, and waste reduction. In addition, this person approves and coordinates with vendors of outside processes to make sure that their quality is assured, and problems are quickly resolved.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform critical root cause analysis to eliminate ongoing problems and identify trends
  • Prepare PPAP, CPK, processes and paperwork, work with production staff to achieve results
  • Perform product, process, and change control risk mitigation actions utilizing 5S Audits and ISO based Internal Audits
  • Work with the leadership team and other departments to implement corrective actions, preventative measures, and continuous improvement
  • Proposes annual budget and ensures that agreed upon budget is followed
  • Participate in on-site customer audits and off-site customer visits, vendor audits
  • Manage gauge calibration program to meet ISO 9001 requirements
  • Performs ISO and AS91000 audits
  • Organizes office / 5S / gage library for optimal efficiency
  • Ensure nonconforming products are identified, documented, and processed per company operating procedures
  • Prepare clear and concise reports to present findings to leadership, suppliers, and customers
  • Refine and integrate project inspection & test plans
  • Support inspectors and identifies any training needs or performance issues, shares information with manager
  • Review supplier procedures and recommend improvement requirements
  • Review all inspection records for compliance and take responsibility for the release of customer products after final inspection
  • Maintain the Gage Calibration system for the company
  • Take initiative to provide crucial communication between production, office, engineering, and others
  • Directs workflow to keep inspections moving, resolves issues with first piece inspector and set up
  • Create new processes or modify existing in response to product and process change orders
  • Work with the quality team on root cause analysis to correct quality and production concerns
  • Participation in on-going training as well as recommend training opportunities for team
  • Adhere to safety procedures


Requirements, Skills and Experience:

  • College degree in a related field
  • Business education a plus
  • Expert in GD&T
  • 5+ years of quality department experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Advanced blueprint reading
  • Experience in analyzing problems, identifying root cause, and designing corrective actions
  • Good working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and ability to analyze, recommend, and implement improvement ideas.
  • Structured problem-solving skills at a working level including 5-Why analysis
