RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:


· Teach level-appropriate, English language lessons contextualized to students' lives and goals


· Monitor student goals; provide encouragement and strategies for students to attain them


· Utilize MA English Language Proficiency Standards at specific teaching level/s


· Implement the Massachusetts English Language Proficiency Standards for Adult Education as part of curriculum planning.


· Use Google Suite tools including Google Classroom, Docs, Slides, Gmail


· Administer teacher-made student assessments in addition to text unit assessments


· Monitor student attendance; follow-up on absences and report them to the education and career advisor


· Select and develop appropriate materials and methods that encourage student achievement


· Use technology and teaching styles that enhance student achievement


· Assist in planning, promotion, and implementation of program activities


· Refer students to academic and career advisor, when appropriate


· Maintain daily teaching log, assessment log, and attendance log


· Submit complete monthly lesson plans using SABES/DESE template to the Curriculum Coordinator (CC)


· Maintain portfolio of student assignments, assessments, and projects


· Evaluate interpersonal skills, technical skills, and knowledge base of students in the classroom at regular intervals to monitor student progress and proficiency.


· Complete and review progress reports with students two times per year (Beginning December, end of April)


· Attend ESOL monthly staff meetings, common planning time, and other meetings as scheduled


· Attend pre- and post- service meetings


· Create professional development (PD) plan in conjunction with CD and/or Executive Director (ED) and attend associated PD activities


· Pivot to on-line instruction as circumstances require


· Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director


QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent experience; experience in the areas of teaching/tutoring; experience as an adult learner preferred; experience working with immigrant population preferred; ability to teach both in person and remotely and use Zoom and Google products preferred; ability to work as part of an educational team and excellent communications skills.


Compensation $27.00-$29.25 per hour (6 teaching hours/week + prep + staff meetings and professional development time as scheduled).
