The path to a successful technology career can be confusing and unclear. You bring the talent and the motivation, and Smoothstack will provide the training, mentorship, network, and access to extremely desirable roles to launch your career Our internal training is designed to prepare you to get valuable hands-on field experience in simulated environments that mimic client environments.
Once selected and hired as a W-2 employee of Smoothstack, you will receive 8-10 weeks of remote paid training. Trainees will be paid a biweekly stipend (plus benefits) to train and will start at $60,000+/year while working on client projects.
At the completion of your training, you will possess a strong understanding of Security, Health and Safety, Electrical, Mechanical, Fire Systems, Maintenance, and overall critical operations. As a technician, you will often work in shifts to provide 24/7 coverage and must be capable of responding quickly to emergencies or malfunctions to minimize downtime. As guardians of some of the most valuable assets of any business—their data—operating technicians require a combination of technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to perform under pressure.
Successful Applicants Must:
- Pass a mechanical aptitude test
- Be legally authorized to work in the U.S., without employer sponsorship
- Be willing to relocate
Qualifications:
- Experience/knowledge from one of these industries: Construction, Facilities Operation, or Trades: Electrical, HVAC, Fire Systems, Plumbing, etc.
- Pre-existing mechanical and troubleshooting skills and a passion for learning
- The ability to pick up different technical skills
- Problem solving & critical thinking skills
- Effective communication skills – written and verbal
- Ability to work flexible shift schedules
- Excitement, eagerness, and ability to learn quickly
Physical Requirements:
- Lift and handle up to 50 pounds
- Bend, stoop, and stretch as required for placement and retrieval of network devices,
materials, or equipment
- Work under a raised data center floor
- Climb ladders (up to 16 feet) to reach plenum spaces
