Job Title: Certified Welding Instructor - The Welding Wizard


Location: Horn Lake, MS


Purpose and Scope: We are seeking a professional Certified Welding Instructor who is passionate about teaching welding techniques, safety protocols, and essential job duties of the trade. Your mission is to prepare employees and trainees for welding certification exams, provide hands-on instruction, and ensure that all welding procedures meet our company's high standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To excel in this role, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

  • Master of Welding Processes: Be well-versed in MIG, TIG, stick, and flux-cored welding.
  • Standards and Safety: Familiarity with welding codes, standards, inspection criteria, and proper safety procedures.
  • Educator Extraordinaire: Develop and teach lesson plans, exercises, and exams.
  • Course Innovator: Assist in developing new courses and programs, and review course evaluations.
  • Engaging Instructor: Create an engaging classroom environment and administer evaluations.
  • Record Keeper: Maintain trainee records, assessments, and track progress.
  • Lab Organizer: Organize and maintain supplies and equipment for welding lab preparation and maintenance.
  • Team Coordinator: Coordinate training with the training and production team.
  • Course Updater: Review and update course materials, texts, and procedure sheets as needed, especially per OSHA requirements.
  • Evaluator: Administer competency-based pre and post-assessment tests to evaluate training effectiveness.


Education and Experience:

  • Certification: Must hold a Certified Welding Educator (CWE) or a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification from the American Welding Society (AWS).
  • Experience: High school diploma or GED, with at least 5 years of recent welding field experience.
  • Instruction Experience: Minimum of 2 years of arc welding instruction experience.
  • Teaching Experience: Minimum of 5 years of recent teaching or industry training experience, or a combination of college-level teaching and industry training experience.
  • Blueprint Skills: Ability to teach the workforce to read blueprints and layout material.
  • Reporting Skills: Provide detailed and technically accurate written condition and open inspection reports.


Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to stand, use hands to handle or feel, talk, or hear.
  • Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment:

  • Regular exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
