We are seeking a skilled Pipefitter to install, assemble, fabricate, and maintain piping systems for industrial, commercial, and residential projects. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a variety of pipes (e.g., copper, steel, plastic) and systems such as heating, cooling, steam, and hydraulic. This role requires precise measuring, cutting, and threading of pipes, and a strong understanding of blueprints, safety regulations, and local codes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pipe Installation: Install and repair piping systems used for steam, water, gas, and chemicals.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications to determine layout of piping systems.
- Pipe Fabrication: Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to the required angle using hand tools, machines, or power tools.
- Welding and Brazing: Assemble and weld pipe sections, supports, and related equipment, following all safety guidelines.
- System Testing: Conduct pressure tests on piping systems to identify leaks and troubleshoot issues.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety standards, OSHA regulations, and local codes to ensure proper installation and function.
- Troubleshooting: Inspect systems to detect problems, and repair or replace defective parts when necessary.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and hours worked for each project.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and repair tools, equipment, and machinery required for the job.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: At least 1-5 years of experience as a pipefitter in an industrial or commercial environment.
- Licensure/Certification: Certified pipefitter or journeyman-level certification preferred. Welding certification is a plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and piping schematics.
- Knowledge of pipe materials (steel, copper, plastic) and joining techniques.
- Experience using pipefitting tools and equipment (e.g., pipe threaders, cutters, welding torches).
- Must be knowledgeable of welding, threading, cutting, brazing, & solvent weld type materials.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy materials, work in confined spaces, and work at heights. Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with piping systems efficiently.
- Communication Skills: Good verbal communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors.
- Time management Skills: Have the ability to meet project deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on large industrial projects (e.g., refineries, power plants).
- Familiarity with complex systems like HVAC, chemical piping, or food processing plants.
- Specialized training in advanced pipe welding techniques.
Work Environment:
- Work Hours: Full-time position, with occasional overtime during peak project periods.
- Job Sites: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, often in challenging weather conditions.
- Safety Gear: Required to wear appropriate safety gear, such as helmets, gloves, and protective clothing.
