As a Drafter | Detailer in our Engineering department, you will be responsible for efficiently modeling fully defined components and assemblies using SolidWorks, onsite at our St. Martin, Minnesota facility. You will also create and update parametric drawings, ensuring they conform to 3D modeling standards.


Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
  • Documenting technical details into schematics, drawings, and parts list that will be used in production and service.
  • Produce 3D models using CAD software.
  • Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines.
  • Create and/or revise documentation for bills of materials (BOM).
  • Position instructions and comments into drawings.
  • Troubleshoot issues and concerns, collaborating with other departments to ensure quality standards are kept.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of all procedures, instructions, technical data, and parts illustrations.
  • Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production issues.
  • Update and/or revise engineering documents to current departmental standards.


Qualifications

  • Associates degree, trade or technical school certification in a related field or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office, SolidWorks, Auto CAD, or other computer assisted design programs is highly desirable.
  • Experience working on hydraulic and electrical schematics is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of math, and strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Must be detailed oriented with a mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work with little supervision, and ability to work independently or as a part of a team.
  • Previous experience with NetSuite or other ERP operating systems considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
