Operations Manager

.A leading tier I in the automotive industry is in search for an operations manager. Our client is looking for an accomplished operations/plant manager that can assume the role of plant manager when a person becomes acclimated with operations and processes. This company is a global corporation with over 27 facilities. They offer very competitive base compensation plus bonus, excellent benefits and a proven track record of promoting from within.
Summary Under general supervision, the Operations Manager oversees and coordinates all aspects of the production process, including directing Production Supervisors and managing related activities to ensure optimal efficiency and quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with management to establish production and quality control standards, develop budgets, and implement cost controls
- Plan and direct production activities, setting priorities to balance operational effectiveness and cost efficiency
- Coordinate production with materials, maintenance, and quality control departments to maximize resource utilization
- Analyze production, quality, maintenance, and operational reports to identify and address nonconformities and operational challenges
- Develop and implement procedures to enhance product quality and operational efficiency
- Adjust production schedules and priorities in response to equipment failures or operational issues
- Liaise with engineering teams to improve machinery and equipment for enhanced production and quality
- Maintain positive customer relations through site visits and ongoing communication
- Ensure a safe work environment and promote a positive company culture
- Interpret and apply company policies and procedures consistently
- Support and ensure compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs
- Develop and maintain Operator Procedures and Work Instructions
- Oversee raw material receiving, staging, and finished goods shipping processes
- Champion Advanced Production System (APS) standards and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives
- Develop and implement training programs for production staff
- Conduct APS, 5S, LPA, and safety audits
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement among hourly workers
- Manage RFQ processes, ensuring compliance with manufacturing guidelines
- Ensure adherence to TS-16949 and ISO-14001 procedures
Education / Experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience
- Minimum five years' experience in a Tier One automotive manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in JIT manufacturing and TS 16949 / ISO 9001 requirements
- At least five years of supervisory experience
- Ability to work with and present to all organizational levels
