Position Description:

LCG is seeking an individual who is a highly skilled and experienced Windows Azure Systems Engineer and Architect who has Azure architecture experience to join our team. This is a hybrid role, with day-to-day responsibilities for designing, implementing, and maintaining hybrid cloud solutions using Windows Azure and VMware V-Center. At the core of day-to-day work is maintenance and problem solving for today’s systems. In addition, this individual will be part of the team helping to define the advanced use of Azure environments, potentially including advancing the use of IaaS and PaaS solutions using Infrastructure as code and Configuration as code, injection of Generative AI products within NIH guidelines, architecting disaster recovery solutions, automating pipelines using DevSecOps principles, etc. This will involve working closely with our development teams to ensure that our systems are secure, stable, and scalable.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administering Windows Server COTS applications, including IIS, McAfee, GPO, and Active Directory
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to Windows Server and Azure environments.
  • Working closely with development teams to ensure that our systems are secure, stable, and scalable.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify customer needs and translate complex technological frameworks into actionable task items.
  • Experience working with patch management tools such as Tivoli/BigFix, Altiris, WSUS, SCCM or others.
  • Support Cloud monitoring with Azure Log Analytics, Azure Monitor, Application Insights.
  • Implementing and securing cloud and hybrid-cloud environments a plus.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to junior team members
  • Participating in on-call rotation for system-level support
  • Designing and implementing hybrid cloud solutions using Windows Azure, and VMware V-Center.

As part of the team supporting future directions the individual may also be involved in:

  • Implementing and maintaining a comprehensive IT Disaster Recovery program.
  • Evolving the Cloud foundation to improve building blocks for delivering infrastructure.
  • Helping to select and deploy Cloud user management, security, and capacity, monitoring and configuring application development tools.
  • Architecting & automating templates for deploying IaaS, PaaS solutions by using Infrastructure as a code and Configuration as a code.
  • Standardizing offerings to achieve cost optimizations and efficiencies.
  • Implementing dashboards for managing cloud performance and budgetary alerts.
  • Analyzing existing on-premise application landscapes to implement refactoring or rebuilding major application initiatives in Cloud.
  • Conduct workshops with clients to drive architecture around Azure.
  • Injecting generative AI capabilities to achieve infrastructure and application support goals under NIH guidelines.
  • Providing solution architecture and support issue resolution for cloud infrastructure delivery by working closely with application and other teams.
  • Evaluating new information system products or services and suggests changes to existing products/services to better aide end users.


Requirements:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience administering Windows Server COTS applications, including IIS, McAfee, GPO, Active Directory, SQL, and VMware V-Center
  • Experience designing and implementing hybrid cloud solutions using Windows Azure
  • Experience in NIH/HHS environment a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience working in a team environment, providing technical guidance and support to junior team members.
  • 2+ years professional experience planning, architecting, configuring, and deploying to Azure as well as migrations.
  • Experience and knowledge of DR strategies across various traditional and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Hyper-V, VMware & others).
  • Familiarity with SharePoint collaboration, IIS, load-balancing and high-availability architectures, public web hosting, TCP/IP and Layer Technologies
  • Solid understanding of InfoSec processes, technologies, and tools
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in an information technology or aligned discipline.


Preferred Certifications:

  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals AZ900
  • CompTIA A+ Certification


Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $112,000.00 to $152,000.00per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
