The Financial Analyst reports to the Global FP&A Manager and is responsible for partnering with US and UK functional leaders to support the achievement of operational and financial goals. This role requires the ability to review financial data to provide comprehensive and in-depth analysis to support their operational reviews. The Financial Analyst is instrumental in incorporating the strategic plan in the forecasting and budgeting process for the company and business units in addition to providing profitability analysis at both the unit and project level. The position interacts directly with project and business leaders, assists with project and client strategy, and supports project decision making. This role requires a high degree of professionalism and the ability to dive deep into the details to accomplish objectives with minimal supervision. Experience and/or good understanding of accounting within the contract research organization (CRO) industry and influencing business leaders is highly preferred.


Responsibilities

  • Support annual US and UK operational budgeting and financial forecasting processes.
  • Provides accurate, transparent, and timely financial reporting and analysis of functional/operational P&L's and KPI's to support leadership in the decision-making process.
  • Translates results of analysis on Operational KPI's and Financial P&L's into valuable insights and actionable recommendations for business and project leaders.
  • Maintains, produces, and communicates a relevant and impactful set of operational metrics designed to evaluate financial performance.
  • Proactively engage and challenge regional leadership to achieve financial and business goals; work closely with them to meet financial goals and influence financially sound decision making, as well as keeping proper track of all expenses under their responsibilities.
  • Ensure appropriate supporting documentation is available and that the forecast is aligned with operational plans.
  • Complete all required variance analyses to deliver strong messaging about the state of business, drivers and trends.
  • Develops graphic reporting easily understood by executive team.
  • Works with the Global FP&A Manager on periodic presentations to the board of directors within established timelines.
  • Proactively identify risks in the project forecast and opportunities to improve revenue outlook.
  • Challenge project resource planning support, monitor resource levels on ongoing projects, and suggest opportunities to positively impact project/portfolio margin implications within projects.
  • Drive process and system improvement opportunities by leading in change initiatives at project and/or portfolio level.
  • Other modeling and ad hoc projects as requested by the management.


Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • 3-5 years previous experience as a Financial Analyst- required.
  • Previous experience in public accounting, or with in CRO/Healthcare is a plus.
  • Thrives in a complex, fast-paced and potentially ambiguous environment.
  • Understands partners’ priorities and acts as a co-pilot to guide them through financial and business decisions.
  • Advanced Excel (macros, pivots, other add-ons and analytics) and PowerPoint skills; experience with financial performance, Planning and Resource Management systems (e.g., Hyperion, Adaptive, Acumatica, Oracle).
  • Analytics & Problem Solving: Translates information into valuable insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Provides recommendations that balance customer and business needs with profitability.
  • Mitigates risks between business goals and accounting principles and controls.
