Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic National Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Director in Oncology to join our client's team. The National MSL Director will play a pivotal role in leading and managing a team of Medical Science Liaisons across the United States. This position requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of oncology, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and stakeholders within the oncology community.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) across the country.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the MSL team, providing feedback and guidance to ensure high performance and professional growth.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Develop and execute the national MSL strategy in alignment with the overall business objectives.
- Identify and prioritize key oncology therapeutic areas and emerging trends to guide the MSL team's activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Marketing, and Sales, to ensure alignment and integration of MSL activities.
KOL Engagement:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and other stakeholders in the oncology field.
- Facilitate scientific exchange and provide education on the company's oncology products, clinical trials, and research initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted scientific resource for KOLs, healthcare professionals, and external stakeholders.
Medical and Scientific Expertise:
- Stay current with the latest advancements in oncology research, treatments, and competitive landscape.
- Provide scientific and clinical insights to support the development and execution of clinical trials, publications, and medical education programs.
- Represent the company at national and international conferences, symposia, and advisory board meetings.
Compliance and Ethics:
- Ensure all MSL activities are conducted in compliance with regulatory guidelines, company policies, and ethical standards.
- Promote a culture of integrity, transparency, and ethical behavior within the MSL team.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (PhD, MD, PharmD) in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within Medical Affairs.
- Extensive knowledge of oncology therapeutic area, including current treatment paradigms, clinical trials, and emerging trends.
- Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with KOLs and other key stakeholders in the oncology community.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific information clearly and effectively.
- Ability to travel nationally and internationally as required.
