High Point, United States Regina Andrew Detroit Full time

As the Director of Creative Content and Marketing, you’ll help guide the overall creative direction and implementation for the Regina Andrew Detroit brand. You’ll guide and support the graphic design team to create inspiring work that supports brand and business goals. You will also support the direction of content, advertising, social media, website, email, direct mail, and other brand communication touch points such as our High Point showroom and flagship store.

We are seeking a quick-thinking visual storyteller with previous experience as a Creative/ Art Director in the decorative lighting, home décor or furniture industries. Successful candidates can wear many hats from coach and mentor to producer and negotiator — we are looking for a great collaborator who is able to keep business goals in sight.

To be considered you will have a strong hands-on background in graphic design and you have proven experience leading art and design direction across multiple mediums (advertising, retail, digital and print graphic design, photography, illustration, animation, packaging) and you believe in the power of storytelling in a holistic way—visually as well as verbally. You have managed a team of designers and art directors across print and/or digital design and have worked closely with copy and content to tell engaging stories across in-store marketing, advertising, and online.

As the Director of Creative Content and Marketing, you’ll collaborate with the Chief Marketing Office and Chief Creative Officer, as well as a crew of enthusiastic artists, makers, designers, and craftsmen. Our team works quickly; it is important that the applicant thrives in a fast-paced environment and works well under the pressures of ambitious deadlines. We are establishing standards, processes, and workflows and need someone who is both creative AND able to juggle the day-to-day responsibilities of execution.

In this role, you will:

  • Strengthen and push a high standard for the brand aesthetic across external and internal Regina Andrew Detroit touchpoints.
  • Collaborate with with CMO and CCO to lead and support the development of creative, concepts and campaigns to drive marketing and business goals.
  • Work with CMO and CCO to find opportunities to strengthen and evolve the brand to resonate with our target audience in a way that feels genuine, ownable, and distinct from the competition.
  • Lead content capturing process from organization to implementation working with both internal and external teams to accomplish defined goals.
  • Work with the CMO to oversee the development and implementation of social media content across all channels including influencer marketing.
  • Negotiate with outside vendors for various levels of execution, from photography, and videography to print production.
  • Manage content production and styling of photo and video shoots.
  • Support the design direction and merchandising of the store and showroom.
  • Showcase the ability to communicate design concepts and intention, verbally and visually.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends, best practices, tools, accessibility standards, etc, and weave those into your work.
  • Lead and develop strong design and art direction capabilities to support brand development and storytelling.
  • Be able to deliver and receive regular, ongoing feedback in a way that both pushes the brand and the team to always meet a high standard—supporting the team along the way, celebrating wins, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish strong, collaborative working relationships with cross-functional partners (Marketing, Visual Merchandising, Merchants, Internal Communications, E-commerce) to inspire them and become a key partner in driving exceptional creative work.
  • Travel as needed for events, shoots, and or meetings.

To be considered for this position you must have a digital portfolio showcasing your work.

You Are Already

  • A talented and experienced Art Director; Able to provide input on lighting, styling, design, product selection, room layout, and architecture.
  • A visual storyteller. Able to execute against a creative brief. You need to have a mastery of composition, color, lighting, room design, visual narrative, spatial relationships — and the shots to prove it.
  • A collaborator. You’ll be working each day leading our in-house team and in close association with the CMO and CCO. You will need to communicate your vision in a way that is executable not to mention on brand, time, and budget.
  • A leader. Your personality and style will have an enormous impact on the team. Your attitude and caffeination-level will permeate every aspect of the studio. We have identified a process and a plan, but things change rapidly you will be asked to lead by example. Adapt, convince, and produce. You understand and manage the impacts on and expectations of all stakeholders when rolling out new plans as well as issuing and tracking design changes.
  • Detail-oriented. You maintain meticulous attention to detail not only in design esthetic but in record keeping. You can detect and manage tangents that can arise during a development cycle and sort them for consideration.
  • A self-starter with a positive attitude, who is able to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • You are able to set clear, and ambitious goals, and hold yourself and your team to the highest standard to achieve those goals.

Eligibility Requirements

  • A degree in marketing, graphic design, portfolio school, or similar and 5+ years of experience leading a design team.
  • A proven track record leading design and art direction across multiple channels
  • A strong portfolio showcasing the application of design to solve business objectives across a range of media
  • Exceptional taste and design aesthetic, versatility and awareness of design trends and innovation
  • Proactive organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; ability to drive multiple projects at a time, and iterate quickly
  • Able to work in fluid environments where you need to manage changing priorities, working closely with key stakeholders to clearly understand and communicate objectives
  • Comfortable and confident in your interpersonal skills: listening, negotiating, motivating and decision-making
  • Excellent design and conceptual ability with thorough knowledge of developing and championing design systems, advertising, digital media, print (packaging, in-store marketing), and digital/print production.
  • Excellence in typography, color, layout, and composition
  • Deep knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft 365 (proficiency with AfterEffects and Figma a plus)
  • Passionate about guiding teams and being a strong creative manager and servant leader.
  • Thick-skinned. You’ll get regular feedback on how you have performed so you can adapt in the future. Sometimes it won’t be what you were expecting—often it will be. Roll with it either way and help the team grow in response.
