Pride Health is hiring a Medical Lab Scientist to support our client’s medical facility based in Birmingham, AL. This is a 3-month assignment (Possibility of extension or conversion) opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization
Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities are interchangeable within job titles of medical laboratory scientist (MLS), medical technologist or clinical laboratory scientist.
- Work environment/department will be listed in the requirement.
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
- Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality. Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
- Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
- Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
- Assist with processing of specimens when needed. Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements.
- A minimum of 0-2 years of clinical laboratory testing experience is required.
- ASCP or AMT certification is required.
- Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
- High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
Additional Information:
- Location: Birmingham AL
- Job Type: 3-month contract
- Schedule: M-F tech 10:30 pm - 7am; the second-night shift position is 9:30 pm - 7 am 7on/7off 7on/7off 1:30 pm- 11:00 pm
- Pay Range: $33- $35/hr
*Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.
