Pride Health is hiring a Medical Lab Scientist to support our client’s medical facility based in Birmingham, AL. This is a 3-month assignment (Possibility of extension or conversion) opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization

Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities are interchangeable within job titles of medical laboratory scientist (MLS), medical technologist or clinical laboratory scientist.
  • Work environment/department will be listed in the requirement.
  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality. Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed. Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements.
  • A minimum of 0-2 years of clinical laboratory testing experience is required.
  • ASCP or AMT certification is required.
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.


Additional Information:

  • Location: Birmingham AL
  • Job Type: 3-month contract
  • Schedule: M-F tech 10:30 pm - 7am; the second-night shift position is 9:30 pm - 7 am 7on/7off 7on/7off 1:30 pm- 11:00 pm
  • Pay Range: $33- $35/hr


*Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.
