Workday Product Owner

Location: HYBRID Mesa, AZ

Job Summary:

The Workday Product Owner is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and ongoing management of the Workday platform within the organization. This role requires close collaboration with stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize features, and ensure the Workday system aligns with business needs and delivers maximum value. The Product Owner will act as the main point of contact for all Workday-related activities and will work closely with IT, HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure seamless integration and operation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Vision & Strategy: Define and communicate the product vision and strategy for the Workday platform in alignment with the organization’s goals.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with stakeholders across HR, Finance, IT, and other departments to gather requirements, understand needs, and prioritize features.
  • Backlog Management: Create, manage, and prioritize the Workday product backlog, ensuring the team focuses on delivering the most valuable features.
  • Implementation & Upgrades: Oversee the implementation of new Workday modules and system upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) efforts, ensuring that new features and updates meet business requirements and quality standards.
  • Training & Support: Develop and deliver training materials and sessions for end-users. Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Vendor Management: Act as the primary liaison with Workday and any third-party vendors or consultants, ensuring that the organization receives optimal service and support.
  • Data Integrity & Compliance: Ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Develop and manage reporting tools within Workday, providing stakeholders with actionable insights and metrics.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, enhancements, and automation within the Workday system.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner with Workday
  • Proven experience in leading Workday implementations, upgrades, and module rollouts.
  • Strong understanding of HR, Finance, and Payroll processes.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of Workday HCM, Financial Management, and other relevant modules.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering business value.
  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies and tools like Jira or similar.
  • Certifications: Workday certification(s) is highly desirable.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
  • Certified Workday HCM
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Prior experience working in large-scale implementations within a complex organizational environment.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements and work in a fast-paced environment.
