About This Role

This role reports to the Director of Key Account Management, North America. Working remotely from Nashville, Tennessee, the Key Account Manager will be responsible for business development of key accounts in North America. The product focus will be on business applications of Power Conversion (UPS) & Power Switching, Power Metering products & Energy Storage solutions. The ideal candidate has a keen business sense for growth opportunities, a deeply analytical mindset to interpret the market, and prior experience in key account management or business development.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Consistently meet or exceed established targets for Key Accounts
  • Develop and implement sales strategy for Key Accounts in the North American market
  • Anticipate customer needs to maintain its satisfaction and propose corrective action plan to at-risk accounts
  • Focus on sale of products with business applications of Power Conversion (UPS), Power Switch & Power Metering & Energy Storage solutions
  • Define the sales budget for Key Accounts in collaboration with the Director
  • Utilize business acumen to survey competitors’ offerings and prepare market trend analysis
  • Determine new opportunities within Key Accounts from Socomec HQ and from its North American entities
  • Create strategies to fully develop customer relationships
  • Collaborate with the cross-functional teams with multiple stakeholders
  • Negotiate broad commercial agreements and manage their consistent application
  • Develop pricing policy and terms of sale
  • Apply excellent interpersonal skills, working effectively with all levels of the organization; develop professional relationships with Key Accounts; quickly gain credibility and trust through all interactions
  • Customize and deliver sales presentations, promotional materials and other marketing information to customers and prospects, in collaboration with Socomec’s Marketing Team
  • Identify and participate in the customer design cycle
  • Prepare accurate and competitive quotes specific to customer needs and, in relation to special initiatives
  • Successfully manage sales promotions
  • Successfully manage requests on Quality & Supply chain coming from the Key Accounts
  • Demonstrate a client-centric approach at all times--proactively anticipate and act on business needs
  • Utilize product knowledge to solve application problems that the customer may encounter
  • Communicate clearly with all customers, prospective customers, and colleagues
  • Fully utilize customer relationship management (CRM) software (i.e. Salesforce) to document all customer and prospect interactions
  • Submit all reports (e.g. expenses, mileage, Salesforce, sales plans, etc.) in a timely manner as required
  • Adhere to all Company policies (including health and safety)


Essential Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Key Account Management or Business Development within the Electrical market
  • Experience implementing sales strategies and standards for the industrial electrical market
  • International project management experience is a plus
  • Prior success with digital sales (or digital selling techniques)
  • Demonstrates strong presentation and negotiation skills
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding established sales goals
  • Must have comprehensive professional experience utilizing the full suite of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Must be highly focused and can work under minimal supervision, yet communicate effectively regarding key performance indicators, goals and results
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), interpersonal skills and networking/collaboration abilities
  • Experience utilizing customer relationship management (CRM) software (i.e. Salesforce)
  • Proven ability to exercise good judgment
  • Must be able to work from a home office
  • Valid driver’s license including a good driving record and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis
  • Able to prepare own complex schedule pertaining to sales calls, meetings and related sales and marketing activities
  • Must maintain a valid passport for international travel (e.g. to the Canada, Mexico and possibly France for meetings and training purposes)

  • English language fluency


Working Conditions

  • Fully remote role within a home office environment
  • Field sales work will require travel, primarily by car and by air, within the United States; occasional international travel (e.g. France, Mexico)


Physical Demands

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis
