Position Title: Director, Student Accounts

Department: Office of Student Accounts

Reports To: AVP/Controller


General Function (Description):

Directs and coordinates the operations of the Office of Student Accounts which includes budget

issues, personnel, information systems, policies, procedures and reports.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Direct, supervise, and mentor employees to develop and maintain a high-performance department

that values accountability, leadership, sound planning, service, and excellent execution. Set and

evaluate goals for team member performance and actively develop team members.

2. Oversee strategic planning, departmental goal setting and evaluation, and process/service

improvement.

3. Coordinate and manage the accounts receivable program, including billing, customer service,

collections, Perkins loan management, processing payments, student refunds, and reporting to

governmental and outside agencies including internal departments.

4. Collaborate with Enrollment Management, Finance, Financial Aid, Housing, Registrar, Student

Affairs, and other internal departments to ensure the accuracy of student accounts including

tuition, fees waivers, housing, meal plans, study abroad, and miscellaneous fees.

5. Interprets and administers student account regulations and policies to conform to federal, state

, and professional standards. Interacts with independent, federal, and state auditors, providing

analysis, and data as requested.

6. Coordinate accurate preparation and completion of state and federal tax forms and reports

including related to forms 1098T and 1042S. Ensure timely submittal of payments and reports to

IRS, government, and other entities.

7. Coordination and development of communications to students regarding accounts and campus-based loan-related issues.

8. Using excellent judgment, create systems, structures, and processes to prioritize requests,

activities, and workflows in a customer-friendly manner.

9. Performs other duties as assigned.

1. Knowledge of the Ellucian Banner Student System and Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business and 5 years of supervisory/management

experience. Experience in higher education accounting, collections, accounts receivable, and

student/customer financial services



Minimum Hiring Standards

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or business

Years of Experience Required: 5 Years of Work Experience in Higher Education setting or

Equivalent

Years of Management/Supervisor Experience: 5 years of supervisory experience

Master’s degree preferred
