The Permit Coordinator is responsible for the preparation and submittals of permit applications to TXDOT, Counties and municipalities (Engineering, Planning and public work departments). This position will work closely with Centric engineers, designers and the construction department to ensure projects stay on track by lining up permits and expediting the process for all parties.


RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Obtain applications and various documents from municipalities, TxDOT, and other utility companies to facilitate the permit application process for both Natural Gas and Fiber projects while acting as a liaison for the company.
  2. Communicate clearly and quickly with company managers, engineers, designers, purchasers and other departments about changes to processes or obstacles to workflows.
  3. Prepare, submit applications and fees to various agencies having jurisdiction over required permits and/or approvals
  4. Track all pending permits through the review processes while effectively communicating the status of each permit to managers and project managers.
  5. Reviews plans and conducts project quantity take off initiatives.
  6. Assist with project deliverables and expense reports in accordance with scheduled due dates.
  7. Follow up with existing cases/ projects with appropriate managers, engineers, designers and other departments to move jobs through the permitting process as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  8. Coordinate documents and applications with outside consultants as necessary.
  9. Responsible for any workflow and the associated tasks, follow-ups with counties, municipalities, TXDOT and other utility companies.
  10. Responsible for securing the timely preparation and submission of documents, plans, inspections, and permit applications based on construction deadlines.
  11. Build and maintain a professional and courteous relationships with the staff of all county, municipalities, TXDOT and other utility companies.
  12. Document and process all plan revisions and coordinate time-frame requirements.
  13. Supports the Engineering & design department with associated administrative duties.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma
  • 2-5 years of related experience
  • Strong technical skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detailed and in-depth understanding of various permit industry knowledge.
  • Proficiency and ability to utilize computer software programs, including spreadsheet, word processing, database, notepad, and PDF applications.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work with personnel at all levels, both within and outside the company.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail with excellent follow-through skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred
  • Experience using Monday.com
  • Knowledge of reading construction plan sets


Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Job requires employee to sit for extended periods of time, lift objects up to 30 lbs, grasp, carry, walk, speak, and listen.
  • Work is performed mostly in a controlled office environment. The noise level is the work environment is usually moderate.
