1. Leadership and Management: Providing strong leadership to the clinical staff and effectively managing the department's operations. This involves setting goals, developing policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

2. Staffing and Recruitment: Overseeing the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of clinical personnel. This includes evaluating staffing needs, establishing appropriate staff-to-patient ratios, and ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts and centers.

3. Quality Assurance: Implementing and monitoring quality improvement initiatives to ensure the provision of safe and effective patient care. This may involve conducting audits, reviewing patient outcomes, and addressing any identified areas for improvement.

4. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborating with other departments, such as medical staff, administration, and support services, to ensure effective coordination of patient care. This also involves maintaining open lines of communication with the nursing staff to address concerns, provide guidance, and promote a positive work environment.

5. Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory standards, such as those set forth by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and state licensing agencies. This includes maintaining proper documentation, conducting regular inspections, and implementing corrective actions when necessary.

6. Education and Training: Providing ongoing education and training to clinical staff to enhance their clinical skills and knowledge. This may involve organizing in-service programs, coordinating external education opportunities, and staying up to date with the latest advancements in nursing practice.

7. Budgeting and Resource Management: Managing the nursing department's budget and resources efficiently. This includes monitoring expenses, identifying cost-saving measures, and optimizing the utilization of resources to achieve high-quality patient care while maintaining financial viability.


8. Coordination of services with surgeons. Interact with surgeons and their staff to ensure proper scheduling, timing, preoperative, interoperative and postoperative care for patients.


9. Physical plant management. Coordinate and maintain the physical plant and all equipment associated with the ambulatory surgical centers to exceed safety and regulatory standards.


10. Policies and Procedures. Develop, maintain, review and improve policies and procedures associated with the functioning of the ambulatory surgical centers. Improve efficiency.

11. Key performance indicators. Develop appropriate and significant metrics to quickly and efficiently identify problems and challenges within the practice. Implement and adhere to a system of monitoring and strategy for intervening to affect positive outcomes in the areas of patient satisfaction, employee satisfaction, internal operational efficiency, financial performance.

12. Develop and implement growth strategies and cost saving measures. Identify areas of growth and review resource utilization and develop strategies to improve these areas.

Overall, the Director of Nursing plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the nursing department, promoting patient safety, and fostering a positive work environment for the clinical staff.


Qualifications:

•Master's Degree in related field ideal but must have bachelor's degree in Nursing

•7+ years nursing experience required with a minimum of 5+ years in nursing leadership

•Three to five years of ambulatory experience

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills and relationship building; a knowledge of the health care environment; leadership that includes such skills as successfully implementing and managing a change process - ability to use systems thinking- and inspire, coach others to be successful; model the way for professional practice; professionalism and teamwork/collaboration for self/department/medical staff; and possess necessary business skills to manage human and material resources

•Must be a continuous learner who understands health care financing; strategy and operations for running a business unit(s); and effectively employ data and technology to support work processes and make decisions

•Supports shared governance or shared decision making; manages the design and delivery of care that in based on evidence and focused on quality and safety

•Knowledge of risk management and various accreditation/regulations and licensing requirements assuring that these are upheld while advancing industry standards through the achievement of goals by effective management and measurement of outcomes

•roven track record of strategic programmatic leadership and development especially as it relates to ambulatory clinics, patient engagement, and employee engagement

•Knowledge of Title 22, DHS, and Joint Commission standards

•Must have Excellent Interpersonal skills, must have the ability to effectively influence and persuade nursing, physician, and hospital leadership to implement change

•BLS from the American Heart Association
