The Sheboygan County Warming Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe, warm, and welcoming environment for individuals experiencing homelessness during the cold winter months. We are seeking a visionary and dynamic Executive Director. This is a unique opportunity to lead and shape the future of the Warming Center, as this role is being filled for the first time in the organization’s transformational phase. The ideal candidate will possess a deep commitment to serving vulnerable populations, a strategic mindset, and the ability to build and inspire a dedicated team of staff and volunteers. As the Executive Director, you will play a critical role in establishing the foundation of our organization, developing and implementing programs, securing funding, and ensuring that our mission and goals are met with compassion and excellence. This is an exciting and impactful opportunity to make a significant difference in the Sheboygan community by addressing the immediate needs of those experiencing homelessness and working towards long-term solutions.


Specific Duties:

A. Program Planning, Implementation and Management

  • Direct and administer strategic, long term and annual program planning, implementation and management.
  • Plan, develop and administer SCWC programs and services consistent with mission, goals, objectives and policies of the Board of Directors, needs of clients and constituent groups and the community.
  • Recommend annual objectives and action plans consistent with strategic and long-term goals.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of programs and services and recommend and/or initiate changes as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local rules and regulations.

B. Policy

  • Recommend and advise the Board of Directors in the development of policies and strategies necessary to fulfill the SCWC mission.
  • Assist the Board in periodic assessments of SCWC goals, role and function in the community and the formation of new directions and strategies as needed.

C. Human Resources: Staff Management and Development

  • Ensure implementation and administration of policies and guidelines affecting staff and staff management.
  • Recruit and hire qualified staff consistent with SCWC goals to maintain a diverse staff that provides the human resources necessary for the achievement of the SCWC mission.
  • Provide direct management, supervision training and evaluation of program and/or department managers.
  • Provide direction and technical assistance to staff in program development, proposal development and reports and funding procurement.
  • Oversee general staff/overall SCWC training and development plans implementation including annual all-staff retreat.
  • Oversee staff evaluations.
  • Oversee the implementation of regular department, project and all-staff meetings.
  • Oversee administration of personnel guidelines and benefit programs.

D. Fiscal Management

  • Direct the development and administration of long-term financial plans and annual budgets.
  • Oversee the development and administration of the annual budget, exercising necessary accounting and internal controls to assure operations which are consistent with the approved budget, FASB and other rules and regulations.
  • Oversee the production, review and dissemination of all financial and fundraising statements and reports as required to the Board of Directors.

E. Resource and Fund Development

  • Direct the planning and implementation of long range and annual resource and fund development plans to ensure that adequate support and resources are available to operate current and future programs and operations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with public and private funding sources, including government agencies, corporations, foundations, organizations and individuals.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree (M.A.) in related field; four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven track record of progressive growth in general fund development, human resource management and accounting and financial responsibilities.
  • Demonstrative ability to work with senior level personnel and a volunteer Board of Directors.
  • Ability to plan, organize and clearly communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Advanced proficiency with personal computers, accounting software, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in an environment with many interruptions.
  • Technology savvy.
  • Social service environment experience a plus.
  • Passion for SCWC mission.
