Job Description:

The main function of an environmental engineer is to design and lead EHS operational strategies and process improvements. The EHS team supports manufacturing operations in Irvine to ensure compliance actions related to the environment or safety requirements are implemented. A large focus on continuous improvement projects that go beyond compliance.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Scientific, or EHS related field REQUIRED
  • Master's Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Scientific, or EHS related field PREFERRED
  • 0-3 years of experience
  • Microsoft Office Suite. Ideally would like someone who has good knowledge of data collection, identifying trends and development of solutions based on the data.
  • Identifying workplace hazards and risks.
  • Cal/OSHA Compliance Knowledge.
  • Performing audits or reviews of compliance requirements.
  • Trainer for safety or environmental programs, emergency response, automation safety. Nice to have


Additional Skills:

  • Good computer skills in usage of MS Office Suite
  • Basic documentation, communication and interpersonal relationship skills
  • Good understanding and knowledge of EPA, OSHA, local and federal regulations
  • Good problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Good understanding of processes and equipment used in assigned work
  • Knowledge of and adherence to the client’s Environmental Health and Safety and Quality
  • Strict attention to detail
  • Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work in a team environment, including immediate supervisor and other team members in the section or group
  • Ability to build stable working relationships internally
  • Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of the environment and prevent pollution under their span of influence/control


Key Responsibilities:

  • A typical workday look like: a typical day, would be to check and respond to emails, meet with engineers within the business to evaluate new or changes to equipment that have an impact to the environment, health or safety. Reviewing applicable regulations, if needed. Helping supervisors complete investigations or job safety analysis assessments. Providing training to employees and possibly the day could also include auditing or performing inspections.
  • Provide EHS expertise for new processes, new products, and technologies and participate in the change control process of the site
  • Collaborate with team to investigate cause for complaints and deviations and recommend sound corrective and preventive measures to avoid recurrence; develop reports
  • Conduct periodic internal inspections and audits at the site to ensure continuous compliance with applicable regulations; and guide appropriate team members
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement processes to ensure compliance with EHS goals and programs
  • Evaluate environmental and/or safety needs with a focus on any of the following: air permitting, wastewater solutions, ergonomics, and/or hazardous materials; Develop and implement processes to ensure compliance with relevant regulations
  • Revise existing EHS training and written programs to ensure compliance with all applicable EHS regulations; may deliver training as necessary
  • Research, analyze, and evaluate data to create routine reports in response to internal requests
  • Act as liaison with government agencies for EHS managers as assigned by the Manager
