Job Overview


We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer III for a nuclear project based in Houston, Texas. This role involves managing and coordinating project activities for a complex nuclear engineering project, ensuring safety, quality, timeliness, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate nuclear project activities, with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance
  • Monitor progress, prepare procedures, and document communications specific to nuclear projects
  • Collaborate with all project functions and engineering disciplines, particularly those relevant to nuclear engineering
  • Review and coordinate project staffing requirements, considering the specialized nature of nuclear projects
  • Support creation and monitoring of project plans, schedules, effort hours, and budgets for nuclear engineering projects
  • Coordinate between design, procurement, material management, and construction teams, ensuring adherence to nuclear industry standards
  • Assist in developing documentation for communication of project issues and status, with attention to nuclear regulatory requirements

Basic Requirements

  • Four-year accredited engineering degree or global equivalent, preferably in nuclear engineering or a related field
  • 15 years of work-related experience, with significant exposure to nuclear projects
  • Professional certification or registration in nuclear engineering or related field (if required)
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in conveying complex technical information
  • In-depth technical knowledge relevant to nuclear engineering and project management
  • Thorough understanding of applicable laws, regulations, and safety standards in the nuclear industry
  • Willingness to work in Houston, Texas

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction/construction management (EPFC/CM) within the nuclear industry
  • At least one successful field assignment in nuclear plant construction or commissioning
  • Experience in risk assessment initiatives specific to nuclear projects
  • International experience in diverse cultural environments, particularly in nuclear energy sectors
  • Previous project engineering experience on at least two medium or large-sized nuclear projects
  • Knowledge of Fluor's software tools and databases, especially those used in nuclear project management
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, crucial for stakeholder management in nuclear projects
  • Analytical problem-solving abilities, with a focus on nuclear safety and efficiency
  • Technical and business writing skills, including experience with nuclear regulatory documentation
  • Presentation skills, particularly in conveying nuclear project details to various audiences
  • Basic computer and software skills, including familiarity with nuclear industry-specific software
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification suggested, along with any relevant nuclear industry certifications
