A Facility Security Manager will work under the broad policy and general administrative direction of Armed Forces Health Surveillance Branch (AFHSB) Chief of Staff. Physical Security work is concerned primarily with the physical protection of sensitive or classified information, personnel, facilities, installations, or other sensitive materials, resources, or processes against criminal, terrorist, or hostile intelligence activities. Security specialists develop security policy and design, develop, evaluate, and sometimes install protection systems and devices to insure that sensitive information, equipment, and other material is not compromised, sabotaged, stolen, misused, or subjected to terrorist, malicious mischief, or other acts of willful interference.


Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Sr Security Manager: $95-105K

Pay commensurate with experience.

Facility Security Manager Responsibilities Include:

Plans, develops and exercises operations security, facility security, occupant emergency, and anti-terrorism plans for AFHSD.

Conducts self-audits of the facility security program and undergoes PFPA security program inspections.

Serves as an Alternate COMSEC Manager.

Coordinates with stakeholders from DHA, Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA), Washington Headquarters Services, and the General Services Administration.

Completes primary and subcontractor DD Form 254s.

Participates in antiterrorism exercises concerning the Defense Health Agency (DHA) and/or other federal agencies within the National Capital Region.

Escorts contractors conducting work in open and restricted facility areas, drafts purchase requests for new security equipment, provides security operations planning for facility events and completes/routes security incident reports to DHA and PFPA.

Routes facility maintenance requests for safety hazards and malfunctioning assets, oversees security system and equipment upgrades/installations, and processes visit requests for foreign visitors and classified meetings.

Handles security onboarding and out-processing for personnel by conducting security briefings and debriefings, providing security tours of the facility, and activating badge access to AFHSD spaces.

Hosts annual, at minimum, facility security committee meetings with stakeholders to discuss changes in security operations, facility maintenance, progress or stagnation in ongoing projects, and emerging threats or concerns.

Gives Town Hall briefings on various security topics and threats affecting personnel.

Routes SIPR account and courier card requests, drafts and maintains standard operating procedures.

Updates AFHSD security information within the Mission Assurance Risk Management System.

Submits VARs for cleared personnel and coordinates foreign visits, reviews and routes foreign travel notifications to DHA.

Submits TASS requests for new common access cards enrollments requests for the privileged management program (PMP).

Determines and recommends policy or action involving readiness, force protection, and significant projects.

Directs and produces necessary staff actions within AFHSD.

Performs additional duties as required.


Facility Security Manager Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • 7 – 10 years’ experience in a DoD Security Specialist/Management role
  • Must have an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI
  • Must obtain COMSEC manager certification.
  • Must obtain Antiterrorism Level II certification.
  • Must complete FEMA training courses IS-01170 – IS-01174.
  • Familiar with reviewing and interpreting 34 CFR Part 117, ICDs, and DoD Instructions and Manuals
  • Available to respond to alarms and accessible by phone 24/7
  • Ability to handle a dynamic environment, responding to global incidences.
  • Ability to work within a matrix environment, balance priorities, and handle multiple projects and tasks.

Supervises an OPSEC Coordinator

  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
