Job Description:

The COO will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the firm. This senior executive role requires a seasoned professional with experience in AmLaw 200 firms who can lead a wide range of business operations, ensuring the firm’s efficiency and profitability. The COO will work closely with the Managing Partner and other members of the executive team to implement strategies that align with the firm’s goals and enhance its overall performance.


Key Responsibilities:

- Operational Leadership:

- Oversee the firm’s administrative functions, including human resources, finance, information technology, marketing, and facilities management.

- Develop and implement operational strategies that enhance the firm’s productivity, efficiency, and profitability.

- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards in all operational aspects.


- Strategic Planning and Execution:

- Collaborate with the Managing Partner and executive team to develop and execute the firm’s strategic initiatives.

- Lead the firm’s business planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

- Drive growth initiatives, including market expansion, service diversification, and client development strategies.


- Financial Management:

- Manage the firm’s financial operations, including financial reporting, cash flow management, and expense control.

- Work closely with the finance team to oversee billing, collections, and financial performance analysis.

- Identify and implement cost-saving measures and operational efficiencies.


- Talent Management and Development:

- Oversee the recruitment, retention, and development of non-legal staff, ensuring the firm attracts and retains top talent.

- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and inclusivity.


- Technology and Innovation:

- Lead the firm’s technology strategy, ensuring the effective use of IT resources to support the firm’s operations and client services.

- Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements, leveraging innovation to enhance the firm’s competitive edge.


Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law, or a related field; MBA or JD preferred.

- Extensive experience in a senior operational role within an AmLaw 200 law firm.

- Strong understanding of law firm operations, including finance, HR, IT, and marketing.

- Proven track record of strategic planning and execution, with a focus on enhancing operational efficiency and profitability.

- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.

- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with partners, attorneys, and staff.
