The Arc Central Chesapeake Region (The Arc) supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to live, work, and connect with their community.
As the Community Engagement Manager, you will facilitate a broad range of community engagement activities to further the strategic priorities of The Arc. You will partner with the External Relations team and other key leaders of the organization to expand the enterprise’s brand, stakeholder engagement, and awareness of our mission and initiatives across the greater Chesapeake region. The Community Engagement Manager will support workgroups and task forces related to deepening relationships with key constituents and facilitate relationships with several Chambers of Commerce, community and civic organizations like the Rotary Club and Lions Club, and our partners at Ft. Meade. You will support the planning and facilitation of engagement sessions, manage all logistics and administrative activities related to these sessions, and track all engagement activities to determine their impact and effectiveness.
This role requires someone who is comfortable engaging with elected and appointed officials, eager to stay up to date on current news and activities across the Chesapeake region as it related to education, disabilities, housing, and workforce development, and excited to interact with the people with IDD we support by assisting with the facilitation of The Arc’s self-advocacy group, Living Boldly.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, though a bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred and a master’s degree is a plus. This role also requires at least three years of experience in community engagement and/or partnership development. You must have expertise and a proven track record of improving reputation and brand awareness while creating growth for an organization. You should have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and be a high-energy team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment with a multidimensional workload. This position includes paid professional development and continued education, as well as a competitive total rewards (benefits) package.
