Job Summary:

The Director of Supply Chain and Procurement will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the entire supply chain and procurement processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness within the company’s food manufacturing operations. This role requires strategic leadership to manage sourcing, procurement, logistics, inventory management, and supplier relationships while aligning with the company's goals and compliance standards. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the food manufacturing industry, excellent negotiation skills, and a strong track record of driving supply chain improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supply Chain Strategy and Management:
  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies that align with business objectives, including cost reduction, process optimization, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Oversee the entire supply chain process from procurement to delivery, ensuring the timely and efficient flow of materials and products.
  1. Procurement and Sourcing:
  • Lead the procurement team in sourcing raw materials, packaging, and other necessary goods while ensuring quality standards and competitive pricing.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts and managing supplier performance to ensure reliability and quality.
  1. Inventory and Logistics Management:
  • Optimize inventory levels to balance cost with demand, minimize waste, and ensure product availability.
  • Oversee logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution, to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  1. Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead and mentor the supply chain and procurement team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Establish performance metrics and provide regular feedback to ensure team alignment with company goals.
  1. Risk Management and Compliance:
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including supplier risks, market volatility, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  1. Budget Management:
  • Develop and manage the supply chain and procurement budget, tracking expenses and implementing cost-saving initiatives.
  • Monitor financial performance against the budget and report on key metrics to senior management.
  1. Continuous Improvement:
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline supply chain processes, enhance quality, and drive innovation.
  • Utilize data analytics and technology to enhance supply chain visibility and decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Agriculture or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in supply chain and procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles, procurement processes, and logistics in the food manufacturing sector.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing supply chain strategies that drive business results.
  • Excellent negotiation, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in supply chain management software and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance standards. Experience in Food Manufacturing or Agriculture is highly preferred*
  • MUST BE ABLE TO WORK ON-SITE IN HOUSTON, TEXAS

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) or procurement (e.g., CPM).
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices in supply chain management.
  • Bilingual Spanish

Working Conditions:

  • This position is based in Houston, Texas, and may require occasional travel to suppliers and other company locations.
  • The role may involve occasional extended hours to meet deadlines or address urgent supply chain issues.
