WHAT YOU WILL DO:
As the Director of Logistics, you will report to the VP of Operations. You will be responsible for directing and overseeing all aspects of supply chain functions within North America and Europe, including warehousing, distribution, and logistics. You will institute industry best practices for supply chain programs to lead the company to numerous growth and automation initiatives. This role requires the ability to lead and influence at all levels of the organization. This role is a key member of the Senior Management Team.
CORE SKILLS NEEDED TO BE COMPLETE THIS POSITION.
Logistics
- Negotiate ocean freight agreements/contracts; manage weekly space allotment.
- Determine annual and monthly capacity needs to ensure sufficient ocean container capacity to meet customer demand.
- Shipment confirmation, order status updates, system maintenance (ETDs, transit time matrix, lead times, etc.), and notifications
- Lead team to ensure the flow of goods through the brokerage to warehousing
- Daily management of freight management systems (third-party preferred)
- International and domestic transportation management
- FCL, LCL, and small package contract negotiations
Distribution & Operations
- Manage container capacity and load planning, build plans through soliciting information from sales and our overseas office and partners.
- POE (Port of Entry Sale): Specific load plan planning by Customer P.O. and factory
- Negotiate agreements/contracts
- Flow of inbound and outbound containers planning and execution
- Deep roots in the industry and maintains key contacts
- Full responsibility for various shipping and distribution processes, including FOB China, Point of Entry, and landed/domestic shipping
- Third-Party Logistics and Drayage
- Container load planning into corporate warehouse and 3PLs (monthly)
- Thorough understanding of terminal & port operations
- Negotiate Brokerage agreements/contracts
Import/Export Regulations
- Customs Clearance
- Duty drawback processes
- Expert HTS and Classifications (footwear and apparel)
- Direct Import (DI) document processing
- Knowledge of free trade zones
- Brokerage
- CTPAT certification process
- Understanding of government requirements, regulations, and tariffs
Team Management
- Interact, Train, provide support, etc., with the Ops, and import teams
- Interact, Train, provide support, etc., with Sales Team Account Coordinators
- Interact, Train, provide support, etc., with Chargeback Coordinator
- Interact with Steamship Lines, NVOCC's, 3PL's
- Buying Agent Agreements with factory agents
- Lead expertise in updating SOPs and procedures
- Counter Sign & Approve Invoices: Customs Brokers, Ocean Freight, Drayage & Truckers, 3 P.L.'s, FedEx, Office Supplies, misc.
Systems and Reporting:
- Familiar with and ability to learn new ERP systems,
- Understanding of business intelligence tools and utilizing reports
- Inbound Production reporting, time phase goods flow reporting and analysis, balance inbound production by warehouse
- Lead updates Blue Cherry production orders
- Understanding of Customer and Vendor portals
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 10+ years of inbound/outbound logistics management and warehouse/D.C. operations.
- Proven ability to develop and lead e-commerce supply chain strategies within timeline and budgetary constraints across functional areas.
- Prior proven ability to negotiate best pricing for shipping freight rates and 3PL services.
- Demonstrated results with transformational execution and change management.
- Extensive exposure to industry best practices, especially warehouse automation (systems and mechanisms)
- Proven ability to develop management-level direct reports, providing coaching and mentorship while also maintaining accountability for results
