SQL/VBA Developer

The company is looking for 5-7 years of experienced contract to hire SQL/C#/VBS/VBA (MS Access and MS Excel) developer who will be responsible for designing databases and ensuring their stability, reliability, and performance. Will also work other developers optimizing in-application SQL statements as necessary and establishing best practices. The individual will be involved in implementing the goals set forth as they relate to database architecture, ETL and development activities. The SSD will transform business requirements into optimal systems implementations, as well as work on large data warehousing initiatives in a senior developmental capacity.

Responsibilities:

• Create, maintain, optimize stored procedures, database and ETL processes
• Work with all levels of development from analysis through implementation and support.
• Interact with report owners to establish/clarify their requirements and develop report specifications
• Knowledge of Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
• Experience Migrating databases from Access to SQL Server
• Be able to analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time
• Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
• Install and support SQL Server on Premises and Azure (IaaS and PaaS)
• Experience with T-SQL and SQL coding
• Implement database security best practices
• Build VB prototypes and small-scale applications, along with VBA scripts
• Develop, enhance, and maintain MS Office applications, and handle both frontend and backend development procedures.
• Design, configure, develop, and implement enhancements and production fixes to existing systems.
• Develop and implement new systems and ensure that their configuration is properly handled.
• Use development best practices, and appropriate patterns to develop required software solutions.
• Create SQL Server views, stored procedures, and queries, and actively mitigate potential security gaps.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals and guides.
• Formulate and define system scope and objectives, based on the individual needs of each user.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong proficiency with SQL and its variation among popular databases
• Proficient developing in VBA (MS Access and MS Excel) and adhering to coding best practices
• 2-4 years in general database development preferred MSSQL.
• Advanced level of writing stored procedures, reading query plans, tuning indexes and troubleshooting performance bottlenecks.
• Skilled at optimizing large, complicated SQL statements
• Knowledge of best practices when dealing with relational databases
• Capable of configuring popular database engines and orchestrating clusters as necessary
• Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications
• Capable of troubleshooting common database issues
• Familiar with tools that can aid with profiling server resource usage and optimizing it
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such.
