SUMMARY OF POSITION:


A Superintendent is responsible for managing/leading field team members to perform work safely and productively per specifications and to the standards of the company and customer.


  • To effectively manage the timely completion of projects.
  • To ensure projects are completed in accordance to plans, specifications, compliance, and company standards.
  • To provide leadership to foremen—fostering safety, teamwork, and discipline—resulting in successful, efficient, and professional project performance.
  • To provide consistently highquality service and results.
  • To represent the company in a professional manner in all dealings with customers, personnel, and the public.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Superintendent is directly responsible for the proper discharge of all assigned duties.

These responsibilities consist of but are not limited to the following:

  • Create, maintaining, and executing the project plan
  • Ensure and workmanship meet the project quality standards
  • Directing and supervising assigned projects and crews
  • Identify and notify Contractor and Project Management team
  • Provide jobsite safety awareness for all personnel while inspecting crew's work performance
  • Implement management techniques that are costeffective and efficient
  • Track and communicate daily progress reports with Project Management team
  • Maintain professional relationships with owners and clients

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Supervise foremen to lead safe and efficient installations

  • Oversee multiple crews, assist foremen with crew leadership
  • Oversee various job sites daily
  • Conduct or participate in daily safety audits and perform safety inspections
  • Train field staff in safety, work skills and efficiency
  • Provide ongoing feedback to foremen and crewmen regarding job performance
  • Ascertain that foreman and crew are well qualified and are efficiently carrying out duties assigned.
  • Contribute to hiring, disciplinary, or termination decisions
  • Resolve complaints and grievances; assist with corrective action
  • Provide direction, guidance, and training in proper trade installation methods

Ensure production and quality goals

  • Maintain understanding of contract information for jobs
  • Track labor hours and production against cost stated goals
  • Schedule materials, equipment, and deliveries, paying special attention to using inventoried materials
  • Monitor material usage, minimize waste, anticipate shortages, and order materials as needed.
  • Coordinate, supervise and manage subcontractors
  • Monitor and inspect quality of installations
  • Report daily to Project Managers

Deliver excellent customer service

  • Engage with customers to answer questions and provide explanations
  • Resolve any issues related to work delivery/performance
  • Schedule daily or weekly contact with customers to review progress
  • Discuss any outstanding issues with customers and other parties
  • Meet with customers to verify satisfaction with work and billing; deliver warranties

Manage and coordinate job details between the field and office

  • Review plans and sites, delegate crews and do all prejob planning including but not limited to creating sitespecific safety plans and work plan efficiencies.
  • Attend, on request, all technical meetings for the purpose of discussing job progress and problem areas.
  • Maintain close communications with Project Managers on any unforeseen problems which may develop.
  • Ensure crews have information and instructions necessary to complete jobs.
  • Submit reports and paperwork and otherwise coordinate communication between office and job sites.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, accidents, and thefts, and provide relevant documents, photos, and assessments to the office.
  • Deliver all documentation to the office in a timely manner.
  • Review final paperwork to ensure change orders are reflected and billed.
  • Participate in manufacturer final inspection.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Work Skills - Superintendents must exhibit leadership and management skills necessary to meet production goals and maintain seamless communication between field and office staff.

  • Must have 5 years proven previous work experience in this field
