We are seeking a person with at least 15 years demonstrated experience architecting, designing, prototyping, and supporting the product validation and manufacturing of complex electronic systems including ARM-based controllers, lower performance embedded devices, wireless connectivity and devices, and power electronics systems including motor controllers and variable frequency drives.


MUST HAVE POWER ELECTRONICS EXPERIENCE

Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize, architect, specify, innovate, design, and execute development of complex electronic control hardware for HVAC systems.
  • Specify, architect, innovate, and oversee design of a wide-range of complex microprocessor-controlled devices using ARM, embedded and other microprocessor
technologies

  • Specify, architect, innovate, and oversee design for power electronics systems
  • Execution of system architecture, including silicon evaluation, design and configuration, detailed product design, embedded SW/FW integration, antenna
placement, power conversion, drives, and others

  • Oversee and co-develop with extended off-shore mechanical, electronic hardware,
firmware, and software engineering teams to design and validate system electronic
control hardware

  • Research, recommend and select components for various subsystems, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, RF, memory, batteries, power, sensor and others
  • Evaluate, review and critique PCB designs from internal and external resources
  • Prototype, test and debug designs as they progress through the design phases
  • Global collaboration with internal and external teams, including systems engineering, architecture, product planners, developers, product assurance, quality, and
manufacturing partners to successfully move products through the development cycle and into the market.

  • Develop and oversee design verification and test (DVT), production verification testing (PVT), end of line (EOL), regulatory testing and development of manufacturing documentation
  • Lead hardware certification for the products – FCC, ISO, and others as applicable
  • Define product acceptance test requirements, develop test plans, oversee product testing/conduct tests as required and support troubleshooting to validate and finalize design
  • Ensure all designs are well documented, and develop procedures and manuals
  • Support and/or solve electronics packaging issues including: electrical isolation, sealing, thermal management, interconnection, shock and vibration management, electromagnetic interference (EMI), RF communications, etc.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience:

  • 15+ years of demonstrable experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required, Master's degree preferred
  • Broad knowledge of electronic control systems including embedded hardware as well as power electronics
  • Broad knowledge and design experience developing products and system solutions for BLE, Z-Wave, Thread, Wi-Fi, power management, sensor control, USB, UART,
I2C, and various bus communication technologies.

  • Must have current design experience with current microprocessor devices and technologies including ARM SOCs, various microcontroller, flash, and memory.
  • Experience with components from STM, TI, Infineon, Renesas, Micron, MediaTek, and others
  • Familiarity with the TI Sitara family and the SiLabs Blue Gecko family of processors is desirable
  • Solid understanding of the theory and application of magnetics (inductors, transformers) and capacitors (Electrolytic, film and Ceramic) used for power
conversion

  • Experience with designing analog and digital circuits, and micro-processors
  • Experience designing boards and systems that minimize EMI effects
  • Proficiency with basic EE tools such as Oscilloscopes, Network analyzers, Signal Generators etc.
  • Good experience with design analog/digital circuits and micro-processors, PCB design and layout
  • Demonstrated familiarity and use of current of electronics design and simulation tool suites
  • Ability to develop, configure, integrate and validate complex system and embedded SW/FW protocol and configuration stacks
  • Experience using internal and external 3rd party NRTL's to achieve complexregulatory and environmental certification requirements
  • Experience ensuring designs are created and reviewed with DFx as a core criterion, including manufacturability, testability, safety, quality, cost and others
