Summary/Objective:


As a Wire Rope Specialist, you will independently perform all duties necessary to install and inspect wire rope assemblies according to company methods, standards, and work instructions.

You will utilize the safest and most efficient means possible to survey cranes for abnormalities prior to rope installation.

Responsibilities:

  • Removing and installing wire rope assemblies on cranes up to 1100 tons.
  • Operating spooling units, including driving spool trucks to job sites.
  • Surveying and inspecting all crane hoisting components for soundness.
  • Properly maintaining all spooler units, spool trucks, and trailers.
  • Maintaining a commercial driver's license and required electronic logs.
  • Accurately submitting timesheets and filling in daily time tickets for billing.
  • Properly tag ropes removed from machines for storage, disposal, or further inspection.
  • Counting, recording, and reporting inventory as required.
  • Performing all duties to established quality standards and reporting defective or substandard material supplies or products.
  • Maintaining work areas, equipment, and tools in a clean and organized manner and following all safety guidelines.
  • Ensuring that all equipment and tooling necessary to complete the job are maintained and in working order prior to leaving the shop.
  • Performing wire rope inspections as per ASME B30.30 regulations.
  • Completing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred; trade school and/or military experience is a plus.
  • Must be willing to obtain Class B CDL
  • Must maintain DOT physical requirements
  • Commercial Driver's License is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of wire rope constructions, discard criteria, installation processes, and procedures.
  • A minimum of two years of crane industry experience is required.
  • Experience in proper rigging practices preferred.
  • Must display safe work practices in all activities.
  • Must be able to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Requires solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills are required.
  • Must be detailoriented, selfmotivated, and disciplined, with the ability to multitask.
