Our Opportunity:

Senior Engineer, Buildings and Structures, Menlo Park, CA (multiple positions). Performing inspection, analysis and determination of root causes of structural performance failures. Conducting analytical and computer problem solving for structural and civil engineering projects. Performing finite element modelling and structural analysis. Performing field investigations and diagnostic surveys for structural and civil engineering projects. Performing qualitative and quantitative risk assessment and performance-based engineering assessment of utility structures. Preparing technical reports and presentations. Managing project tasks and budgets. Participating in continued professional development towards establishing professional expertise. Limited travel to unanticipated client sites throughout the United States.

You will have the following skills and qualifications:
  • Requires a Masters degree or foreign equivalent in Civil and Environmental Engineering or related field, and two (2) years of experience in the position offered or in a Civil or Structural Engineering related occupation.
  • 2 years of experience in conducting finite element modeling and structural analysis using OpenSees, SAP2000 and Abaqus
  • 2 years assessing performance of structures under extreme loads from earthquakes, hurricanes, and high wind events
  • 2 years performing qualitative and quantitative probabilistic risk assessment of structures
  • 2 years performing elastic, non-linear geometry, catenary analysis of overhead electric conductors subject to gravity and wind loading to assess forces on utility poles and transmission towers
  • 2 years analyzing design and construction of concrete, wood and steel structures. Must have a P.E. or S.E. license.

Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Associate and Senior Associate level total compensation includes base salary, bi-weekly bonuses for high intensity efforts, annual bonus and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.

Salary Range:
USD $125, USD $155,000.00 /Yr.
