Position Description:

  • Harris County Fire Marshal's Office is seeking a motivated team member to join our Operational and Technical Support team The role of the logistics specialist will include logistics maintenance, documentation management, strategic planning development, and professional development of assigned resources.
  • The Incumbent will perform a variety of administrative activities including coordinating information and resources to support departmental operations and goals. Utilizing automated systems to input, process, monitor, and identify discrepancies in data/records relevant to departmental operations and services. Maintains communications with internal and external individuals and entities to obtain needed information, reconcile issues, or assist with information requests, and respond to departmentrelated questions and issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and implement "best practices" work processes in support of agency goals and objectives.
  • Provide input for decisions and comprehensive longrange plans so that projected needs of the agency are met, and department resource utilization is maximized.
  • Provide input for equipment selected as the standard for the agency or specific division need, ensuring budgetary compliance through HCFMO administration staff.
  • Develop, maintain, and account for equipment and resources through the supply chain while ensuring 100% accountability of all equipment and resources.
  • Complete inventory records on countyowned equipment and supplies, as assigned.
  • Complete routine and unscheduled calibration, maintenance, and required documentation of equipment.
  • Establish effective working relationships with others in support of strategic goals.
  • Support operational equipment accountability through the issuing, receiving, and clearing of
  • HCFMO employees as it pertains to equipment and resources.
  • Assist with maintaining inventories and cleanliness within the Quartermaster.
  • Enter and maintain departmental requisitions through the STARS-Finance as required, including contacting vendors for quotes.
  • Inputs, processes, and compiles data/records using Operative IQ and other automated systems to track and maintain accurate inventories of departmental/countyowned equipment, supplies, and other resources.
  • Maintains uptodate records and information related to the service and maintenance of departmental/countyowned equipment and supplies.
  • Coordinates logistics related to the procurement, service, and maintenance of departmental/countyowned equipment and resources.
  • Perform other duties as directed by HCFMO management including assisting in additional operational support functions as needed or directed.

Other Position Details:

- (Temp to Hire Position), as a Harris County Employee*, this position will require driving and picking up assets as needed using a County Vehicle. The employee must be able to attach, load, unload, and drive trailers and trucks as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience in managing inventory systems or a closely related field.

Licensure:

  • At the date of hire, be eligible to possess a valid driver's license, State of Texas Class C

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced Skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)

Automatic Disqualification:

  • Convictions, probation, or deferred adjudication for any Felony, and any Class A Misdemeanor
  • Convictions, probation, or deferred adjudication for a Class B Misdemeanor, if within the previous 10 years
  • Open arrest for any criminal offense (Felony or Misdemeanor)
  • Family Violence conviction

Preferences:

  • Bachelor's Degree and experience in managing inventory systems or a closely related field

General Information:

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

  • Regular Full-time-
  • Monday
  • Friday | 8:00 AM
  • 5:00 PM (40 Hours per week)
  • May include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • May be requested to work overtime and weekends for special program events.

Salary:

- $ $39.26 Hourly
  • Depends on Qualifications

  • Work requires the employee to maintain the necessary physical abilities to perform required job functions.
  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/ humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Work requires seeing, standing, walking, sitting, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, hearing, pushing, pulling, driving*, and lifting and carrying weights as shown in the work classification.
