About the Job:
This role as Executive Director/Vice President of Health Economics Outcomes Researcher (HEOR) involves conducting research to evaluate the economic impact of healthcare interventions. The primary goal is to assist healthcare organizations in making well-informed decisions regarding the allocation of resources and reimbursement.
As the head of Health Economics Outcomes Research at Annexon, you will establish and nurture professional relationships with healthcare decision makers, public and private payers, policy makers, as well as HEOR investigators.
You will utilize various statistical and analytical methods to assess healthcare outcomes and costs, presenting your findings to both internal and external stakeholders, which include healthcare providers, hospital administrators, managed care decision makers, and more.
This position presents a unique opportunity to contribute to healthcare advancement by offering evidence-based insights that have the potential to influence the future of patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Support the HEOR strategy and plan for each program at Annexon, including designing and executing HEOR studies such as literature reviews, burden of illness analyses, budget impact models, patient-reported outcomes, and real-world evidence.
- Ensure that HEOR evidence generation meets the needs and expectations of key stakeholders like payers, health technology assessment agencies, healthcare providers, and patients.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, including medical affairs, marketing, and clinical departments, to integrate relevant health economics data into clinical studies and commercialization plans.
- Engage with external partners such as payers, healthcare providers, thought leaders, and decision-makers to establish and sustain strong relationships, gather insights for research projects, and facilitate collaborations.
- Provide strategic guidance on healthcare resource allocation and pricing strategies to internal teams.
- Present research findings to internal and external stakeholders clearly and concisely using appropriate communication channels.
- Stay updated on advancements in health economics methodologies and best practices.
- Identify and engage with regional and national HEOR & RWE experts and organizations, as well as profile data sources and organizations conducting real-world outcomes research related to Annexon's products and therapeutic areas.
- Contribute to the existing HEOR knowledge base and enhance it with data sources and organizations that conduct real-world outcomes research linked to Annexon's products and therapeutic areas to fortify value messages.
- Develop and communicate HEOR data of varying complexities to formulary and healthcare policy decision-makers and their expert influencers while adhering to company policies.
- Heighten awareness of the value propositions of Annexon's present and potential future products, enabling healthcare and formulary professionals to make well-informed therapeutic decisions for patients and providers.
- Monitor national and regional changes in healthcare policy and the payer environment, analyze competitive data/gaps, and relay them to the organization to keep Annexon competitive and at the forefront of evidence-based medicine issues and HEOR data for strategic and commercial planning purposes.
Requirements:
- Prior experience in leading health economics, health outcomes, patient-reported outcomes, epidemiology, health policy, and related research methodologies in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries.
- Knowledge of rare diseases, neurology, ophthalmology, and/or immunology drug development is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 15-20 years of relevant experience with an advanced degree in a related field (e.g., PhD, DrPH, PharmD, MS).
- Advanced written and interpersonal communication skills with an ability to present technical information clearly and simply.
- Experience in managed care, integrated delivery networks, formulary decision-making, and payment and access.
- Skills to establish relationships with real-world evidence experts in areas of interest.
