GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Indian Child Social Services Family Support Worker provides prevention and supportive services assisting with strength-based wrap around services to families in need.

The Family Support Worker will coordinate with Kumeyaay Family Services departments, San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA), and Consortium tribes to provide information, resources, and referrals to prevent the breakup of Indian Families.


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reduce isolation of family and youth in the program through cultural and community activities, services, and support.
  • Conducts community presentations on child abuse awareness and prevention through education, program activities and services available with Case worker and/or ICSS Program Coordinator.
  • Assists case manager with referrals for ICSS clients to necessary internal and external agency services.
  • Responsible for documenting all client interactions in a professional and timely manner.
  • Collaborates with all other SIHC Departments to reduce isolation and enhance resiliency.
  • Database entry into case management software system and complete all the necessary paperwork to promote internal communication with all ICSS staff, maintaining accurate information.
  • Provides transportation and delivery of program supplies to ICSS families.
  • Assist and consult with the ICSS Program Coordinator and Case Manager with prevention activities that support the program, functions, activities, and services regularly.
  • Working knowledge of agency policies and procedures, AAAHC, HIPAA, confidentiality, Health & Human Services, and other county, state, Tribal, and federal regulations.
  • Understanding of the Award Terms and Conditions of grant.
  • Works closely with the ICSS Program Coordinator and Case Manager to provide child abuse prevention through education, referrals, and assessments and in the tribal community.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule may be required based on need.
  • Other duties as assigned that fit the needs of the Grant, Department, and SIHC.

Possess abilities to work flexible hours as required to meet department needs; facilitate and negotiate and resolve issues professionally; work collaboratively in a team approach; effectively communicate with confidence and knowledge to staff and clients.

Compliance:
Each employee plays a key role in creating a compliance culture at SIHC. Employees are expected to learn and comply with all SIHC policies and procedures. One must have the ability to understand the implications and complexities of all compliance policies.

Participation in all compliance training is mandatory, and generally have a heightened awareness of policies and regulations that are specific to one's department and position.

All SIHC employees are expected to report violations or suspected violations of compliance policies or regulations.
