This position supports the California Department of Public Health's (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by communicating with stakeholders on electronic data collection of chromosomal abnormalities, neural tube defects, and other pregnancy outcomes for the evaluation of the Prenatal Screening Program.

The incumbent works under the direction of the Research Scientist Supervisor I (Epidemiology/Biostatistics), Chief of the Prenatal Outcomes and Evaluation Unit. The Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) is responsible for a variety of the more complex assignments relating to the data collection of the Outcome of Pregnancy Surveillance Project (OPSP), the Chromosomal Abnormality Registry, and the Neural Tube Defect Registry. The surveillance and registry data are used to evaluate the performance of the prenatal screening program. The AGPA is responsible for direct communication with stakeholders on electronic data submission for the OPSP and the two registries. The incumbent will exercise a high degree of independence in identifying issues and problems in the electronic collection of surveillance and registry data, including developing and implementing protocols to guide and assist stakeholders changing from the existing paper-based data reporting system to electronic data submission, identifying appropriate methodologies for validation of the data, and coordinating data gathering efforts with other Program Development and Evaluation Section staff.
