SOME (So Others Might Eat) provides material aid and comfort to our vulnerable neighbors in the District of Columbia, helping them to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness through programs and services that save lives, improve lives, and help to transform the lives of individuals and families, their communities, and the systems and structures that affect them.

SOME (So Others Might Eat) is seeking a full-time Program Manager for our Fendall House, located in Northwest, Washington, DC.

Position Description: The Program Manager will oversee daily program operations and staff. The Program Manager is responsible for creating a healthy and welcoming environment for families to live in and reach their goals and will lead staff and organize resources to meet the program's mission.

Required: Bachelor's Degree; 3-5 years experience in Social Services. experience providing services to low-income families; previous supervisory experience.

Preferred: Master's Degree; 5-10 yrs. experience in social services; experience providing services to low-income families; experience with housing programs; 2+ yrs. previous supervisory/management experience. Driver's License and access to a vehicle.

Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm; Tuesday & Thursday 11:30 am - 8:00 pm (40 hours a week)

Required License/Certification: CPR/First-Aid, CPR for infants.

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service and individualized services. This includes understanding resident's needs, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluating satisfaction
  • Knowledge of clientele behavior and dynamics and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds
  • Knowledge of creative and effective problem-solving skills with the ability to draw conclusions, evaluate options, and implement solutions
  • Knowledge of mental health issues, trauma substance abuse disorders, program population, and homelessness
  • Ability to develop employee skills through relevant assignments and pro-actively identifying training opportunities
  • Ability to set clear, measurable performance goals and find solutions to problems that may impact performance
  • Ability to forecast to anticipate challenges and develop contingency plans and solutions identifying industry trends in advance of planning
  • Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Supervisory skills and Leadership skills
  • Ability to maintain composure and manage crises effectively
  • Ability to manage and oversee operational budget
  • Ability to lead and facilitate life skills training
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize to delegate work task

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Ability to effectively use data and research to reach informed, effective decisions

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in program management.
- PMP certification preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
- Demonstrated experience in managing budgets and timelines, as well as identifying issues and risks.
- Familiarity with project management software and tools.
- Experience in client-facing roles is highly preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Expected Contributions:

Program Management::

  • Ensure daily program operations run smoothly; Contribute to strategic development and strive to improve program functions and performance.
  • Responsible for oversight of case management services utilizing the strength-based perspective and integrating motivational enhancement theory and practice in individual family goals.
  • Responsible for promoting, marketing, and ensuring attendance for all program activities and initiatives
  • Oversee family goal planning process and ensure accurate assessment of family issues.
  • Oversee the coordination of case conferences and treatment team processes.
  • Act as a primary liaison with Asset Management and Facilities and management departments
  • Review and track all ADA or accommodation requests and discuss requests with the Asset/Property Management team as appropriate
  • Work collaboratively with property management to transition necessary leasing documentation
  • Manage or facilitate community meetings
  • Manage program budget and finances; Order program supplies and materials, as needed.
  • Lead and monitor the completion of intakes and assessments. Manage resident orientation process
  • Assist in the development of program vision and evaluate program goals and outcomes
  • Audit case notes and develop case management reports
  • Monitor and develop reports on participants, finances, family status, and additional information based on funding requirements
  • Ensure the coordination of necessary follow-up, monitoring, and tracking of service outcomes. In addition, monitor and evaluate levels of care and adjust services based on programs.
  • Provide oversight for the implementation of clinical interventions
  • Complete appropriate incident reporting and resolve matters appropriately
  • Administer drug testing as needed
  • Provide outreach and develop partnerships in the community, Establish relationships with both internal and external systems for purposes of gaining referrals and providing resources
  • Ensure security and safety procedures are followed
  • Engage in and deploy an emergency response plan, as needed.
  • Lead and monitor the completion of intakes and assessments. Manage resident orientation process.

Supervisory:

  • Ensure appropriate department staffing levels in order to meet objectives, assess, evaluate, and hire, new employees as needed.
  • Contribute to budget development, and use sound judgment to leverage resources in accomplishing department goals; Administer the budget and comply with SOME financial reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to strategy development and strive to improve department functions and performance; assist the development of standards and goals as appropriate.
  • Submit administrative paperwork and reports as required.
  • Maintain professional documentation and ensure the program is in compliance with SOME CQI standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all state, local, and federal laws governing the workplace and all department functions.
  • Schedule staff work hours, as needed, and monitor for time and attendance; approve time cards and request for leave.
  • Provide direction and guidance to staff members on the department policies and procedures
  • Define work requirements, assign tasks to staff members, and review work for quality and accuracy.
  • Provide weekly feedback on performance, conduct performance evaluations, and take steps for performance improvement as needed.
  • Provide case consultation and ensure goal plans, progress notes, and assessments are completed and updated.
  • Provide coaching and training for staff, assist staff with work processes and policies, and encourage opportunities for professional development.
  • Monitor and provide opportunities for team building and ensure efforts are being implemented to increase employee Morale.
