What You'll Do:

The Parent Child Plus program is a free in-home early literacy and school readiness program for families with children 18 months - 3years of age. The PC+ program offers two 30-minute home visits each week from an Early Learning Specialist to help parents learn fun ways to engage their child through play.

Specific Duties:
  • Visit home of each family twice a week to provide services to two and three-year-old children and their parent or primary caretaker in accordance with the National PC+model
  • Complete 16 hours of training prior to beginning home visits
  • Model verbal interaction and learning through reading and play to strengthen parents' skills in enhancing their child's cognitive development and school readiness.
  • Complete and submit home session reports of parent/child activity observed after visit for the coordinator
  • Complete all required paperwork including assessments and other data collection as required by the local program as well as the ParentChild Plus National Center
  • Inform the Coordinator of any unmet needs or situations in the home which may require further assistance to the family as needed
  • Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding program families and staff
  • Attend relevant workshops/conferences for professional development
  • May assist Coordinator in other program related tasks as needed
Qualifications:
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse populations
  • Evening and weekend availability
  • Bilingual/Spanish preferred
  • Ability to travel within Salem to multiple homes within a day
