Position Description
The Special Education Teacher will provide individualized instruction to students in a well-structured classroom environment, following IEP mandates. The teacher needs to develop and implement effective instructional and behavioral strategies tailored to students with special needs. Clear communication with colleagues from various disciplines and parents is crucial for student success. Applicants will be assessed based on qualifications.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Follows approved instructional program
  • Manages classroom and student behavior effectively
  • Prepares detailed lesson plans
  • Maintains accurate records
  • Conducts parent/teacher conferences
  • Assesses student learning continuously
  • Designs instruction to meet student needs
  • Creates clear learning assessments

  • Participates in the IEP process
  • Monitors student progress
  • Facilitates student independence
  • Assists in diagnosis and remediation
  • Maintains student data and records
  • Participates in professional development

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Experience with students displaying special needs
  • Behavior management expertise
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Effective collaboration abilities
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Special Education teaching certificate required
  • Experience with IEP data collection
  • Knowledge of IEP Direct
  • Elementary special education experience preferred
  • Physical Management Training or Crisis Prevention Intervention training
  • Spanish fluency is a plus

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Salary: According to the NFT contract
