We are looking for a compassionate individual to join our team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Challenge Unlimited, Inc/Residential Options in Alton, IL.
No previous experience necessary We offer comprehensive PAID training to ensure top-quality care.
People with intellectual and developmental disabilities require dedicated individuals who can provide assistance and guidance with daily tasks that many take for granted. These individuals, known as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), play a crucial role in helping our clients at Residential Options learn new skills, achieve personal milestones, and transform houses into warm, welcoming homes. DSPs directly report to the Director of Residential Options or Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP).
Position Summary:
- Shift: Part Time
- Hours: Flexible evening shifts from 9am-5pm and 2pm-11pm
- Salary: $18 per hour
- Location: Alton, IL
Responsibilities:
- Report to the RSM
- Assist clients with daily living activities
- Ensure clients adhere to their medication schedule
- Support clients with limited mobility
- Aid clients in dressing, bathing, and eating
- Assist clients with prescribed physical therapy exercises
- Prepare meals based on client dietary needs
- Assist with shopping for clients
- Perform essential housekeeping tasks to maintain a hygienic environment
- Provide emotional support to clients
- Communicate any unusual events to physicians or supervisors
- Respond promptly and effectively in emergency situations
- Report any changes in client behavior, accidents, or issues to the RSM
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of criminal background, child abuse & neglect, and motor vehicle background checks
- Minimum age of 21 years
- Valid driver's license
- Pass the state-mandated CASAS literacy assessment prior to employment
- Mandatory completion of CPR, First Aid, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), Medication Administration, and DSP training within the first 4 months of employment and annually thereafter
