We're currently seeking a Logistics Manager with a strong background in Logistics, Transportation and Supply Chain Management.

Location:

USA Headquarters: Based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, reporting into our Canadian Headquarters. The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel regularly, including to other Superior Glove locations, sometimes with extended stays, as required.

About the role:

Reporting to the Global Supply Chain Manager, the Logistics Manager is responsible for ensuring efficient and cost-effective movement of goods throughout our entire Supply Chain. The position will manage Superior Gloves transportation and logistics activities for international and domestic shipping including carrier selection, rate negotiation, service expectations and on-time performance. This role also oversees the import/export functions and will manage relationships with customs brokers to ensure compliance with customs, tariff classifications, and various trade agreements in North and Central America. The Logistics Manager will work with various location specific logistics, purchasing and shipping team members and will play a pivotal role in optimizing the overall transportation budget, while maintaining and building relationships with service providers throughout the Supply Chain as our internal subject matter expert.

Responsibilities:

Oversee and plan transportation activities for the organization, which include international and domestic shipments and intercompany transfers.

Develop comprehensive operational plans, identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement and implement continuous improvement activities and monitor daily operations to ensure exceptional delivery service. Ensure challenges are addressed in a timely manner.

Selection, approval, and ongoing review of all logistics providers for land, air and ocean shipments with emphasis on rate negotiation, service expectations and on time performance.

Optimize performance and cost of out-going freight activities through working with local warehouse operations to ensure effective management of courier and LTL carriers and proper utilization of Rate Shopping Software for day-to-day shipments.

Maintain relationships with customs brokers including ongoing review & classification of tariff codes for incoming and outgoing shipments and review of Trade Agreements to minimize overall duty paid and ensure compliance.

Create, maintain, communicate, and explain key performance indicators, analyses and reports for senior and plant management related to freight, logistics and warehouse operations.

Manage and oversee the logistics team, coach and conduct performance appraisals.

Create and implement policies & procedures for all company related logistics activities. Standardize all work instruction and train across all SGW facilities, and cross functional teams in warehousing, purchasing, operations, logistics and other departments.

25 35% international travel required

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years leadership experience within a similar role for a distribution or manufacturing company with a Global Supply Chain

Post secondary degree / diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain, Materials and Operations Management, Transportation, Business Administration or related field of study.

Hold current certification in Supply Chain (ex. CPSM, PMAC, CITT, APICS or equivalent)

Advanced knowledge and experience in Logistics and Supply Chain, customs, duties and Free Trade Agreements

Advanced proficiency in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, overall PC proficiency required; experience with Project Management software considered an asset.

Demonstrated experience, knowledge and relationships in the freight and transportation industry including International and domestic shipping lanes

Familiarity with CTPAT compliance

  • Great communication and relationship building skills are crucial

Valid passport and drivers license with satisfactory driving record; must be willing and able to travel
