Eleven Recruiting is looking for a Senior Buyer to join a top aerospace manufacturing client based in Simi Valley, CA. In this role, you'll handle managing a diverse vendor base strategically to build long-term relationships that create value for both sides. You'll also be involved in researching manufacturing methods and supply chains for different components, offering important design-for-manufacturability feedback to the engineering teams.
Responsibilities:
- Execute complex purchasing tasks, such as negotiating terms and pricing with suppliers for efficient service delivery.
- Set criteria for source selection to assess quotations, including target pricing, and decide on purchase orders.
- Incorporate formal contractual documentation into purchase orders to meet corporate and government standards.
- Resolve discrepancies between purchase order requirements and supplier performance, taking corrective actions when necessary.
- Maintain accurate purchase order data in the system and analyze bid outcomes.
- Strategically handle a diverse vendor base, explore manufacturing methods, and supply chains for different components.
- Offer design-for-manufacturability (DFM) insights to engineering teams and ensure material demand satisfaction.
- Develop commodity strategies, check MRP (SAP) order actions, and negotiate prices and deliveries.
- Foster vendor relationships to secure competitive pricing and excellent service.
- Manage purchase orders effectively, track deliveries, and address customer requests promptly.
- Keep track of supplier scheduled ship dates, expedite when necessary, and maintain accurate shipping details.
- Establish and uphold professional ties with suppliers, dealing with purchase order and agreement issues as they arise.
- Understand and comply with specific customer part certification requirements.
Qualifications:
- BS/BA in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in procurement or supply chain management.
- Proven experience in negotiating license contracts with a successful track record.
- Proficiency in SAP, Excel, and other procurement software.
- Familiarity with procurement principles and practices in an aerospace/manufacturing setting.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and database tools.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities (written and verbal) to drive tasks to completion.
