Criminal Justice Coordinating Council

The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC), Criminal Justice Unit (CJ), funds numerous adult programs throughout the state aimed at improving treatment, recidivism, and crime reduction outcomes. Funding is targeted at enforcement, rehabilitation, technology improvement, and professional workforce training for law enforcement, prosecutors, courts, corrections, and others.

Description:

The Planning & Policy Development Specialist will conduct research and assist in the planning, development, modification, and implementation of agency and/or division policy & strategic plans. This position will also administer criminal justice specific grant programs, draft state/federal proposals, track, and report on the status of grant dollars in adherence with requirements. Occasional in and out-of-state overnight travel required.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

·Research, prepare, and submit grant proposals to address the needs of the state

·Analyze, research, and develop reports that include summary and analytical explanations

·Collaborate with Grant Specialist to manager the project budget and approval allowable expenditures

·Monitor compliance with grant stipulations and program progress through on-site evaluations and review plans and reports

·Serve as the subject-matter expert on criminal justice initiatives

·Use independent judgement to produce quality work withing time constraints

·Create and disseminate information packages, facts sheets, program newsletters, resource guides, policy manuals, etc.

·Craft, develop, and deliver presentations to live, varied audiences

·Serve as the logistical coordinator for all project-related focus groups, workshops, trainings sessions, and other events

Preferred Qualifications

·Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, public administration, social science, sociology, social work, humanities, or a related field from an accredited college or university

·Two years or more of related experience in one or more of the following areas: grant writing, criminal justice services, accountability court services, project evaluation/monitoring, program manager, etc.

·Ability to develop and deliver presentations, conduct research, and prepare analysis

·Strong writing and computer skills (Microsoft Office, Word & Excel)

·Ability to work independently and as part of a team

·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
